It’s that time of month again where we take a look at what books we added to our shelves last year. Do we actually read the books we collect? Today we’re taking a look at our October 2023 bookhaul! How did we do? Keep on reading to find out!
Candyce
In October 2023, I added 11 books to my shelves! I’m actually proud to say that I’ve read quite a few of them. Let’s see how I did!
Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date – Ashley Herring Blake
Read
After loving Delilah Green Doesn’t Care so much, I knew I needed this book in my life. Iris was another interesting character to read about who had her own past and things to work through. I loved Stevie and Iris, and I’m sad that this was the final book in the trilogy.
House of Roots and Ruin – Erin A. Craig
Unread
House of Roots and Ruin is the sequel to House of Salt and Sorrows, and I know the vibes of this book will be perfect for this time of year. We get to follow another one of the sisters, and I know this is going to be dark and magical, just like the first book.
Sword Catcher – Cassandra Clare
Read
The Shadowhunter world is one of my favorite fictional worlds, so I was really interested to see what Cassandra Clare would do with a new world. Sword Catcher was an interesting start to a new series and that ending has left me wanting more. The sequel releases right before my birthday next year and I know what I’ll be adding to my wishlist.
Throne of the Fallen – Kerri Maniscalco
Unread
Out of all of these books, I’m most surprised I haven’t read Throne of the Fallen yet. After loving Kingdom of the Wicked, I was so excited about Kerri Maniscalco’s adult romantasy debut. Throne of Secrets, book two in this series, just released last week. So it’s time for me to get reading!
Wildfire – Hannah Grace
Read
Wildfire was a fun romance to read with a little forbidden romance. This is the sequel to Icebreaker and I have to say I enjoyed this one just a little bit more. I recently bought the third book, Daydream, so we’ll see where that one stands in my ranking soon.
If I Have to be Haunted – Miranda Sun
Read
If I Have to Be Haunted was such an interesting ride. I loved the characters, world, and everything going on. I will say I do feel this would be better as a series. There’s still so much we could learn from this world and its characters.
A Holly Jolly Ever After – Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone
Read
If it’s a Christmas romance, I’ll read it! After loving A Merry Little Meet Cute, I needed A Holly Jolly Ever After. This is such a fun world to be in. They made my Christmas loving heart very happy.
Two Twisted Crowns – Rachel Gillig
Read
After loving One Dark Window, I needed to know how the story continued. Two Twisted Crowns was such a good sequel and conclusion to it all. We got more POVs and it had me hooked from page one. I definitely want more written by Rachel Gillig.
The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England & Yumi and the Nightmare Painter – Brandon Sanderson
Read & Unread
The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England caught my attention with its unique title, but I think my expectations were maybe a bit too high. The story was fun, but it just didn’t wow me or keep me as hooked as I expected to be. Yumi and the Nightmare Painter is still on my TBR and I hope to read it soon.
Wreck the Halls – Tessa Bailey
Read
Just like I said earlier, if it’s a Christmas romance, I’ll read it. Wreck the Halls was a wild ride and I really enjoyed it. My only complaint about this story was the third act break up. I could’ve done without that.
End Result:
Read: 8/11 – 72.7%
TBR: 3/11 – 27.3%
Isabelle
In October 2023 I didn’t add any new books to my TBR, I only got one new puzzle book so this will a be a quick one for me. I did a couple of puzzle in that puzzle book but it’s not really a read/unread type of book. At this point in the year I’m still doing well with my TBR, it’s still lower than it was at the start of the year!
So that’s another looking back at our bookhaul! Have you read any of these? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
