Bookhaul | October 2023

Another month is over, so it’s time to take a look back at October. Tomorrow we talk about what we read, but first it’s time to talk about our bookhauls. Did we add any new books to our shelves during the month? Keep on reading to find out!

Candyce

In October I added 11 new books to my shelves. At the moment I’m halfway done with one of them and plan on reading another soon. This haul has a lot of books I’m excited for, so let’s take a look!

Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date – Ashley Herring Blake

I loved the first two books in this series (Delilah Green Doesn’t Care and Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail) and I’ve been counting down the days until this released. I’ll actually be reading Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date in November for my swoonalong read. I’m sad that this is the last book in this series.

House of Roots and Ruin – Erin A. Craig

When I read House of Salt and Sorrows I said in my review I wished we had more books in this series. Well, my wish kind of came true. House of Roots and Ruin is more of a companion, but it seems like a perfect spooky read. Also, the author just announced that there will be at least three more books in this series after House of Roots and Ruin.

Sword Catcher – Cassandra Clare

The Shadowhunter world was one of the worlds that I dived into when I first started reading a lot again. I’ve loved those books, but I’m also excited to see what Cassandra Clare does with a new world and adult fantasy book (instead of YA).

Throne of the Fallen – Kerri Maniscalco

Earlier this year I loved the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy. The last book headed to the more mature side of YA books and I loved it! Throne of the Fallen is Kerri’s first adult book and is about The Prince of Envy and I’m excited to curl up with this one.

Wildfire – Hannah Grace

Icebreaker was a book I really enjoyed, so of course I need to read the sequel. Wildfire isn’t a sports romance, but is about two camp counselors who actually shouldn’t be together while working. I still don’t understand why this released in the autumn, but I’ll read it anyways!

If I Have to Be Haunted – Miranda Sun

I’m so glad I decided to sign up for Fairyloot. The books are stunning and I’m so glad I have this edition of If I Have to Be Haunted. The idea of a ghost speaker making a deal to bring her nemesis back from the dead has me very intrigued.

A Holly Jolly Ever After – Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone

Last year A Merry Little Meet Cute was my favorite holiday read (that I still need to buy physically), so of course I need the sequel in my life. A Holly Jolly Ever After has such a cute cover, but don’t let it fool you, because I have a feeling it’s just as spicy as the first book.

Two Twisted Crowns – Rachel Gillig

One Dark Window has been a favorite read of mine this year and I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait long for the sequel. Two Twisted Crowns is a book I’m loving and I’m halfway through it at the moment. If you love the darker fantasy book, I highly recommend this duology.

The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England & Yumi and the Nightmare Painter – Brandon Sanderson

So I’m sure everyone has heard about Brandon Sanderson’s Kickstarter for the books he wrote during lockdown. They’ve slowly published traditionally as well and the hardcovers are stunning. So I’ve been collecting them! After reading The Way of Kings in September, I want to read more of his backlist.

Wreck the Halls – Tessa Bailey

Wreck the Halls is another holiday themed book I’ve decided I need in my collection. When I ordered this one and A Holly Jolly Ever After, I realized that I actually don’t have a lot of my holidays reads physically. So I decided to change that this year. I’ve loved the last two books by Tessa Bailey that I’ve read, so I’m hoping I love Wreck the Halls as well.

Isabelle

I actually haven’t added any reading books to my collection this month. And no audiobooks either! But I did get a new puzzlebook and it’s really cool. It does feel like it counts as a book so I decided to add it here anyway. Let’s take a look.

Murdle -G.T. Karber

Every pages has a logic puzzle about a murder and there is a bit of a story throughout the whole book as well. There are different levels of difficulty and it’s just really fun solving these puzzles. You can also do one online every day, which is a great way to try and see if you like these types of puzzles. There is a second volume that released in September and there will be a third one in April. I know what I’ll be asking Santa ;).

So that’s our October bookhaul! Have you read any of these? Or have you added any books to your shelves last month? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
