We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Most Anticipated Books Releasing During the Second Half of 2024. So far 2024 has had so many amazing releases and I’m excited to see what the rest of the year will bring! Let’s take a look at some of my anticipated releases.
The Darkness Within Us – Tricia Levenseller (July 9th)
The Shadows Between Us was a really good book, but it was a standalone, so I was never expecting to get more in that world. Well the author surprised us by announcing The Darkness Within Us. This is about Alessandra’s sister. I can’t wait to read this.
Death at Morning House – Maureen Johnson (August 6th)
Truly Devious is one of my favorite mystery series and I’ve decided I’ll read anything Maureen Johnson writes. Death at Morning House is a standalone mystery about a teen who uncovers a mystery on an island while being a tour guide. The mystery needs to be solved before something happens again.
Apprentice to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer (August 8th)
Apprentice to the Villain is the sequel to Assistant to the Villain. The first book was an interesting ride and had me hooked. It was a pleasant surprise, but I wasn’t expecting that cliffhanger! So I’m excited that we’re only a couple of months away to finding out how the story continues.
Under the Surface – Diana Urban (August 13th)
I’m determined to read more thrillers this year and I’ve been wanting to read a book by Diana Urban. Under the Surface takes place in the Paris catacombs. This sounds like a perfect book for a rainy day.
When Haru Was Here – Dustin Thao (September 3rd)
You’ve Reached Sam was such an emotional book, but it was a good one. When Haru Was Here is the next book by this author and look at this cover! This time around we get We Are Okay meets Wandavision. Our main character creates imaginary scenarios to help deal with his grief, but then one becomes real. I have a feeling When Haru Was Here is going to be an emotional book.
Somewhere Beyond the Sea – TJ Klune (September 10th)
The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorite books and I’m so excited we’re getting a sequel. This time we’re getting Arthur’s story! I can’t wait to be able to curl up and read this book. Also, another stunning cover!
The Blood Orchid – Kylie Lee Baker (October 1st)
The Scarlet Alchemist is one of my favorite fantasy books of 2024 so far and I’m so glad that I don’t have to wait years for the next book. It’s going to be interesting to see where Zilan’s story goes, because a lot happened in the first book.
Fang Fiction – Kate Stayman-London (October 1st)
I loved One to Watch and I’m glad we’re finally getting a new book by this author. What I take from the synopsis is that our main character finds out her favorite fictional story is real and the sexy villain is trapped. That’s going to be interesting!
The Courting of Bristol Keats – Mary E. Pearson (November 12th)
Mary E. Pearson wrote The Remnant Chronicles, a YA trilogy that I enjoyed. She’s back with her first adult fantasy romance and I’m so excited. The Courting of Bristol Keats has dangerous fae, dark secrets, and addictive romance. Sign me up, because I need the story and this beautiful cover in my life.
A Monsoon Rising – Thea Guanzon (December 10th)
The Hurricane Wars was everywhere when it released last year, and it got some mixed reviews. It seemed to be the kind of book you love or you don’t. I was someone who loved it and the ending left me wanting more of Alaric and Talasyn!
So here are ten of the books I’m excited for that are releasing in the second half of 2024! Do we have any in common? What books are you excited about? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
Apprentice to the Villain is on my list too this week. I’ll probably read Death at Morning House too, but I was kind of expecting her to finish off the Truly Devious series. The last one didn’t feel like a proper ending.

I love the Truly Devious series as well! Although, I wasn’t as excited by the last book. I will have to add Death at Morning House to my list! It sounds really good!
Fang Fiction looks like a great read.
I’m excited for Apprentice to the Villain and Somewhere Beyond the Sea too! ???? I hope you enjoy these books whenever you get to them.
Fang Fiction sounds like fun! And I loved One to Watch, too!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Ooh Fang Fiction seems like a fun one!
