As we’ve mentioned before, one of our most important reading goals of is shrinking our physical TBR’s. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books we still have or what subjects to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.
This week’s topic is Authors’ Debuts and I really like that topic. It’s such a fun thing to look at, I have no clue how many debuts I have on my TBR. Let’s just dive in!
1. Gideon the Ninth – Tamsyn Muir
This one has been on my TBR for a while now. I was really excited when I got it and have started reading the first couple of chapters. But since then I have seen reviews all over the spectrum and I have no idea if I will actually enjoy this one. I do still want to read it at some point, I would like to find out for myself if this is one for me but it might be a while.
2. The City of Brass – S.A. Chakraborty
I want to read this one soon! After enjoying The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi I wanted to pick up this one right away. Unfortunately I did not and now I still have to pick it up. I hope to do so soon as this truly sounds like a book I would love!
3. The Near Witch – V.E. Schwab
I adore everything V.E. Schwab writes, no matter the genre, whether it’s MG, YA or adult, I love it all. So can you believe I still have to read her debut novel? I will say this story normally wouldn’t have grabbed my attention but since it’s V.E. Schwab I still want to read it haha.
4. The Night Circus – Erin Morgenstern
This book has been recommended to me a lot and I do think it might be one I will enjoy. I just haven’t had the urge to pick it up yet. At some point I do plan on reading it, I’m really curious about this story!
5. Her Majesty’s Dragon – Naomi Novik
I love Naomi Novik’s books but I still have to read her debut series. Since I love dragons, I think I will enjoy this series. I don’t expect it to be the best thing ever, but I do expect to like the story. Hopefully I can read this one soonish!
These are 5 books on my TBR that are also author’s debut novels. Have you read any of these? Which one should I start with? I can’t wait to dive into these books! Let me know in the comments down below.
