I can’t believe I’m actually writing this but I’m getting close to finishing Haikyu. It’s my favorite manga series ever and while I would like to enjoy the story for a bit longer I just can’t contain myself. I have 8 more volumes to go so it won’t be long now. Of course I’m already looking for a new manga series to devour and I have a couple of contenders. Let’s take a look at them!
Kuroko’s Basketball – Tadatoshi Fujimaki
This was one of the ads in the back of multiple Haikyu volumes and I had to add it to the wishlist right away. It’s a sports manga about basketball with two main characters. They just started high school and with their basketball team they want to beat one of the characters middle school teammates who all went to different teams. I hope it’s as good as it sounds! The series is complete and there are 30 volumes, doable I would say.
The Prince of Tennis – Takeshi Konomi
I don’t really like tennis, but if there’s something to make me enjoy it, it would be a good manga about tennis. This is another one I found in the back of multiple Haikyu volumes. It sounds like are main character is a real prodigy and he has to compete with older and more experienced players. There is also some trauma coming down through his father who had to give up his own career, I’m excited to see how that will come into play. This is also a completed series and there are 42 volumes.
Blue Lock – Muneyuki Kaneshiro
One of the kids in my class asked me if I watched the Blue Lock anime but I said I wanted to read the manga first. So this might be the one I pick up first. It’s about football (something I love) and the hunt for a new striker for the national team. There are currently 29 volumes, although they aren’t all translated just yet, and it looks like there will be more coming.
Have you read any of these manga? If so, what did you think of them? Which manga should be my next series? I would love to hear from you! Come talk to me in the comments down below.
