5 On My TBR | 2023 TBR Titles You Didn’t Get To

As I’ve mentioned before, one of my important reading goals of 2023 is shrinking my physical TBR. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books I still have or subjects I want to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.

This week’s topic is 2023 TBR Titles You Didn’t Get To. While I don’t really make specific TBR’s there are always a ton of books I plan on reading. And to be honest, I don’t actually do so a lot of the time haha. So I can certainly pick 5 books I planned on reading this year but didn’t get to! Let’s take a look!

1. Wildcard – Marie Lu

I’ve had this one on at least 2 ‘TBR’s’ this year. It was a part of my Series I Want to Read in 2023 list and Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year. I thought it would take care of finishing a series and of lowering my TBR by the end of the year. But since I didn’t pick it up, that just didn’t happen.

2. The Brothers Hawthorne – Jennifer Lynn Barnes

This was also on my Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year list. I had started reading this one earlier this year and I really liked it so far. This series is one I loved a lot and Jennifer Lynn Barnes is definitely a favorite author of mine, so I do hope to properly read this one soon!

3. A Master of Djinn – P. Djèlí Clark

Another one from my Books I Want to Read Before the End of the Year list! I adored the novella’s and short stories set in this world and had been excited about the release of this full lenght novel ever since. Not too long ago I did start the audiobook and enjoyed it a lot, so hopefully I can pick it back up soon.

4. Jade City – Fonda Lee

I had this one on my Books I’m Bringing to France list. And I really planned on reading this one there. I’m still so sure I will love this one, I have really high expectations and I’m sure it’s one that is right up my alley. After finishing this one, I can make my way through the rest of the series.

5. King’s Cage – Victoria Aveyard

This last one was part of my Series I Want to Read in 2023 list and also on my Books I’m Bringing to France list. Since I wanted to finish the Red Queen series in 2023 I thought I would read this one in France. Unfortunately I didn’t. I do still want to finish this series soon, I loved the first book but was disappointed with the second one. Hopefully the third and fourth books will be more enjoyable for me.

These are 5 books I planned on reading in 2023 but I just didn’t! Hopefully they’ll be a couple of the first books I’ll pick up in 2024. Have you read any of them? Which one should I pick up first? Let me know in the comments!
