Tag | Try A Chapter: Netgalley Edition Part 8

A little while ago I used a try a chapter tag to see if I was still interested in the older eArcs I haven’t read yet. While I was excited for them when I requested them, my reading tastes have changed a bit and some of these books just aren’t for me anymore. I have not nearly enough time to spend it on books I don’t enjoy or I’m not excited about so I have to make some decisions. Let’s see what I think after the first chapter!

The Orphanage of Gods – Helena Coggan

This was first chapter was LONG haha. At some point I checked if there even were chapters and not just one long book haha. But while the chapter was long, it was also interesting. A lot happened, we got to meet our main character, learn a little bit about the world and we also got a flashbacks. I’m very curious about how this world works and I will definitely continue reading this one.

Reverie – Ryan La Sala

I think this chapter felt longer than it actually was. There was some mystery which made it somewhat interesting, especially towards the ending. But overall it didn’t really grab me. I wasn’t that curious and the characters don’t stand out either. Since getting the eARC I’ve seen some negative reviews and I don’t think I’ll pick this one back up.

Fireborne – Rosaria Munda

This book starts with a prologue that happened nine years before the book starts. It starts somewhat interesting but I needed to read the first chapter to make an actual decision. After just 2 sentences I got interested, because they mentioned a tournament. And we all know how much I love those. This actual first chapter was another long one. I have to see I’m not completely sure if I enjoy the writing style, but that might also be because I’m tired. The story was interesting enough and would like to give it a couple more chapters before truly making up my mind.

Have you read any of these books? Should I pick them up, do you agree with my choices, or do you think I’m way off based on the first chapters? I would love to hear from you, especially if you’ve read one of these three books!
