I came across this tag awhile ago and really wanted to do it. It is a pretty hard tag but it was also really fun to think about these scenarios. This tag was created by lindsayheartsbooks years ago haha. But it’s still going round! Let’s jump into those scenarios.
YOU HAVE TO GET RID OF ALL YOUR BOOKS AND YOU CAN ONLY KEEP ONE FROM EACH OF THESE GENRES —CONTEMPORARY, FANTASY, NONFICTION, AND ONE OTHER GENRE OF YOUR CHOOSING. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU KEEP?
CONTEMPORARY
We’re starting off with a tough question! I decided to go with To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. Lara-Jean is a pretty relatable character for me and my copy is signed by Jenny Han. So of course I want to keep that one.
FANTASY
This was a lot harder than the contemporary one…. I picked Three Dark Crowns because that book holds a lot of memories for me. After having three Owlcrate’s shipped to my American friend, she was able to give them to me when we were both in India for a wedding. And one of the boxes contain Three Dark Crowns which I read in no time at all, that’s how much I loved it. It’s also signed so it can’t go!
NONFICTION
I don’t care about non-fiction books that much, so I’ll guess I just keep one of my books about introverts. Those books are always interesting to me and they all come with memories either of London or of Minnesota so its good either way!
ONE OTHER GENRE; graphic Novel
I just have to keep my Heartstopper books. This series is amazing and I love it with my whole heart. I definitely want to reread it again and again. Before the last volume releases I want to do a reread <3.
YOU’RE AT THE BOOKSTORE AND YOU HEAR A TEENAGER TELLING THEIR MOM THEY DON’T LIKE TO READ, BUT THEIR MOM INSISTS THEY PICK SOMETHING. YOU WALK OVER AND RECOMMEND A BOOK YOU THINK IS GREAT FOR PEOPLE WHO AREN’T BIG ON READING – WHAT BOOK IS IT?
I don’t believe there is just one book that I could recommend anyone, I would definitely ask a couple of questions first. But one of the books I might recommend is My Lady Jane. That book was so funny! And I think a teenager would definitely enjoy the story, the fantastical elements and most importantly the humor.
YOU’RE NOT FEELING YOURSELF AND NEED A PICK ME UP. WHICH BOOK DO YOU READ TO PUT YOURSELF IN A GREAT MOOD?
Listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks never fails to lift my mood. While I really dislike JKR, I still enjoy the books so much. Yes I opened my eyes to the issues but that nostalgic feeling and the love I have for the characters, the world and the story just won’t go away.
YOU GO BACK IN TIME FOR A DAY TO YOUR TEENAGE YEARS. WHAT BOOK WOULD YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE CAUGHT YOURSELF READING?
Haha, apart from Harry Potter I reread one series over and over again. It was a horse book series and I adored it so much. I believe the original was German and I read the Dutch translation, it’s not been translated into English I believe. It’s called Romana & Ragebol and the German name is Bille und Zottel. There are 13 books and I actually reread them a couple of years ago and still loved them haha.
YOUR FRIEND SURPRISES YOU WITH A FOUR-DAY TRIP AND YOU HAVE 1 HOUR TO PACK. WHICH BOOK DO YOU BRING TO READ ON THE WAY?
I just got As Good As Dead in the mail so I will definitely bring that one of the trip. Luckily I also have a ton of books on my kindle app so I can read as much as I want haha. But I would definitely read As Good As Dead first, I’m so excited to continue this series. It’s one of my favorite YA mysteries.
YOUR HOUSE HAS BEEN ROBBED! DON’T WORRY – EVERYONE IS SAFE, BUT YOUR BOOKSHELF HAS BEEN RAIDED. WHAT’S THE BOOK YOU REALLY HOPE IS SAFE?
AAAAAH I don’t like this scenario! While a lot can be replaced, I would be devastated for all the special editions and especially all my signed books. I have quite some books that the authors signed at events so I also have my own name it in. Those are just so special to me and I would be very very very sad if I lost them. Especially my V.E. Schwab collection is very near and dear to my heart.
YOUR FRIEND BORROWS A BOOK AND RETURNS IT IN AWFUL CONDITION. DO YOU A) JUST PRETEND YOU HAVEN’T NOTICED B) ASK THEM TO REPURCHASE IT OR C) SECRETLY DO THE SAME TO SOMETHING OF THEIRS?
Probably just A haha. I did have this happen to me once or twice. One of my friends called me to tell me she basically ruined the book and that she was going to replace it, but I didn’t like it that much in the first place so I told her to just get the sequel so we could both enjoy that one haha. Still, this really sucks and I wouldn’t lent any more books to that friend.
This was so much fun! I really enjoyed thinking about these scenarios but I do hope most of them won’t come to fruition ever haha. Which book do you pick up to lift your mood? I can always use a couple more of those 😉 Let me know in the comments!
Oh I totally agree with My Lady Jane! It was so fun – definitely a great one to try for people who aren’t as into reading.
