We wanted to do another bookish meme on Wednesday and after doing Can’t Wait Wednesday a few times we decided that would be a fun one to bring around more often! About twice a month you’ll see this meme on our blog.
Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breakingthe Spine.
From holy cup comes holy light;
The faithful hands sets world aright.
And in the Seven Martyrs’ sight,
Mere man shall end this endless night.
It has been twenty-seven long years since the last sunrise. For nearly three decades, vampires have waged war against humanity; building their eternal empire even as they tear down our own. Now, only a few tiny sparks of light endure in a sea of darkness.
Gabriel de León is a silversaint: a member of a holy brotherhood dedicated to defending realm and church from the creatures of the night. But even the Silver Order couldn’t stem the tide once daylight failed us, and now, only Gabriel remains.
Imprisoned by the very monsters he vowed to destroy, the last silversaint is forced to tell his story. A story of legendary battles and forbidden love, of faith lost and friendships won, of the Wars of the Blood and the Forever King and the quest for humanity’s last remaining hope:
The Holy Grail.
First off, I really enjoy Jay Kristoff’s books, so of course I’m immediately drawn to his new releases. And yes, I was also super quick to pre-order one of the special editions for this book haha. I managed to snag a Waterstones exclusive edition (that I think is on sale again!) that was breaking the website when it went on sale haha.
This will be a vampire story (obviously) and I’m really excited for that. It’s been a while since I read a good vampire book and I have high hopes for Jay Kristoff. I don’t want ‘good’ vampires, give me the monsters! And I’m sure that is exactly what Jay will give us. It’s also the start of a new series and I’m happy to know it won’t stop after one book. I’m also pretty sure our heart will shatter but I guess I’ll just have to take that for granted haha.
Empire of the Vampire will be released early September so the book will be here before I know it. Hopefully I can manage to read at least Godsgrave but hopefully also Darkdawn before Empire of the Vampire arrives. I would love to finish the Nevernight series before jumping into this one.
Are you going to read Empire of the Vampire? And did you read Jay’s other books? Let me know down below! I love to talk about it with you all <3
I have read a couple of Jay’s books, but I haven’t started this series – the covers looked a tad gory and I’m a wuss:)). However, I haven’t ruled it out, yet. I hope you really enjoy this one, Isabelle!
I’m also excited about this one. Hopefully, it doesn’t rip our hearts out too much!
Definitely extremely excited for this one! The Nevernight series is easily one of my favorite series, and I have a feeling this is going to be amazing. Can’t wait!
