TTT #197 | Secondary/Minor Characters Who Deserve More Love

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Secondary/Minor Characters Who Deserve More Love. I think I’ll use this opportunity to mention the secondary/minor characters I wish would get their own books. Let’s see what characters I would love to see more of!

Tink (A Wicked Trilogy – Jennifer L. Armentrout)

Tink is my favorite character in this trilogy! He’s a sarcastic brownie that loves trolls (don’t ask, haha). He has an Amazon addiction and is very protective of those he loves. I wouldn’t mind if he got his own trilogy.

Fizzy (The Soulmate Equation – Christina Lauren)

In romance books the side characters tend to be a lot of fun. The Soulmate Equation wasn’t any different. Our main character’s best friend Fizzy is an author that writes romance books. She’s funny and really sees Jess as family. I’d love to see her get her own happily ever after outside of the books she writes.

Allison & Viet (A Pho Love Story – Loan Le)

The best friends in A Pho Love Story were so much fun. I loved how Allison took control of everything she was doing and went after what she wanted. Viet’s love of all things forensic crimes was really interesting. I think they’d both have amazing stories to read.

Ami (The Unhoneymooners – Christina Lauren)

Ami is our main character’s twin sister and has a rough time in this book. After a disastrous wedding reception (really bad food poisoning) other things happen that she totally doesn’t deserve. I love how she handled these events (if you’ve read the book you’ll know what I mean) and totally deserves a happily ever after!

Dev, Sage & Huan (Hot British Boyfriend – Kristy Boyce)

Hot British Boyfriend was a fast and fun read, but I honestly enjoyed the main character’s friends more than the main character. I really loved all three of them and think they would have really interesting stories. I’d even take their POV during the time of this book.

Kieran (From Blood and Ash – Jennifer L. Armentrout)

Jennifer L. Armentrout is just an amazing author of side characters. I love her main characters, but she definitely makes me love the secondary characters as well. Kieran is a fun character and once again really sarcastic. What we know about him and have seen so far really make me want to know more about him. I think a lot of the fandom would agree with me.

Peanut (The Harbinger – Jennifer L. Armentrout)

And last but not least another side character written by Jennifer L. Armentrout, haha. Peanut is a ghost that loves the 80s and made me laugh out loud quite a few time. I would love his ghost adventures or even his life before he became a ghost.

  1. Sounds like Armentrout is great with characters- I’ll have to check her stuff out sometime soon.
I think my favorite secondary characters are the bubbly/snarky best friends like Zuzana from Daughter of Smoke & Bone (who thankfully got a novella) or a lot of Clare’s characters in her Shadowhunters books (like Simon and Magnus, who also thankfully usually get a story or two to themselves). I think we can all agree, though, that Alice and Jasper from Twilight need their own book(s).
