Looking Back At Our Bookhauls | November 2019

It’s the beginning of the month again and time to look back at our bookhaul. If you’ve been following us, you know we look back once a month to see if we actually read the books we buy. Some months we do good and other months not so much, haha. Let’s see how we did with our hauls from November 2019.

Candyce

This is always the scariest post of the month, haha. It’s always interesting to see how much I actually read after buying books. In November 2019 I added 9 books to my shelves. It was more than I had planned, but that’s something that happens rather often.

Girls of Storm and Shadow – Natasha Ngan

This is the second book of the trilogy, but I couldn’t resist the beautiful Fairyloot edition. We even got a different dust jacket, because the exclusive one ended up in stores when it wasn’t supposed to. I still need to read the first book, but these books sound amazing.

The Bromance Book Club – Lyssa Kay Adams

I LOVED this book!! It was everything I wanted and more. It’s that Isabelle borrowed my copy or I’d show you all of the tabs added to this book. This book is sweet, romantic, steamy and really funny. I really need to read the other two books in this series soon!

Read

Get a Life, Chloe Brown – Talia Hibbert

Another book I really loved!! It was nice to have a romance with a character with a chronic illness. We don’t get enough of these and this book was amazing. I really need to do a re-read before starting the second book about the next Brown sister.

Read

An Assassin’s Guide to Love and Treason – Virginia Boecker

Now that I’m really getting interested in historical fiction, I know this one will be on my TBR soon. I haven’t read it yet, but really want to!

Unread

10 Blind Dates – Ashley Elston

I’m a big fan of holiday reads and 10 Blind Dates was so much fun to read!! This is a feelgood book and I can’t wait for the companion novel. Seeing this book makes me want to read it all over again.

Read

Ship It – Britta Lundin

Middle grade books have been getting more of my attention and I need to make time for Ship It. I love the naked hardcover and the book sounds like a lot of fun. I really need more time in the week to read, haha.

Unread

Not Even Bones – Rebecca Shaeffer

I’ve only started reading more horror in the past year or so. Even though it’s not my favorite genre, I’ve enjoyed a few of these. Not Even Bones is one that’s been on my radar and I just need to sit down and read it. The final book is out in the world now, so nothing’s stopping me.

Unread

Call Down the Hawk – Maggie Stiefvater

I was so excited about getting this one and I’m actually sad I haven’t read it yet. The author recently announced the title of the sequel and it definitely put Call Down the Hawk back on my radar.

Unread

Level Grind – Annie Bellet

I had the opportunity to meet Annie last year and when she described this series it was one I knew I needed. Why I haven’t read it yet? No clue, haha. This is a book with 4 novellas that I need to read in the near future.

Isabelle

November 2019 was BAD haha, I went to Dutch Comic Con and got a ton of books during the Amazon Black Friday deal. So I ended up with 20 new books haha. How many did I actually read? Let’s find out!

10 Blind Dates – Ashley Elston
Read

Off to a good start! I read this one last year around Christmas and loved it so so much. There will be a companion novel and I can’t wait for its release. Ashley writes wonderful books and I want to read everything she wrote so far.

Call Down the Hawk – Maggie Stiefvater
Unread

I can’t believe I still haven’t read this one yet! The Raven Cycle is one of my favorite series and Ronan one of my favorite characters. So you’d think I would pick up his book in no time at all. With the announcement of the title of the next book I hope to read this first one really soon.

The Skyweaver – Kristen Ciccarelli
Unread

I still need to read the second book in this series. But I loved the first book and I’m happy I own all three now. The author is also super sweet so it was nice to be able to support her by preordering her books.

Saga vol 7-9 – Brian K. Vaughan
Read

I love the Saga series so much! Maybe I was a little late to the party but I’ve since caught up and read all of the volumes that are currently published. The authors took an hiatus but I hope they will continue this series soon!

Scales & Scoundrels vol. 2 – Sebastien Girner
Unread

Why haven’t I read this one yet? I’m not sure! And I might actually pick it up this month because it would be a great way to finish at least one of my challenges and get closer with another one haha.

Level Grind – Annie Bellet
Unread

Candyce and I both bought this one at Dutch Comic Con last year. After writing about it in a recent 5 On My TBR post I got really excited about this one again. I might pick it up pretty soon, or read at least the first of the four novella’s this bind up contains.

Ship It – Britta Lundin
Unread

I thought I would read this one as soon as I got it. But after reading a lot of negative reviews I never did haha. I do still want to try it and see for myself if it’s any good. And the naked hardback is beautiful!

The Assassin’s Guide to Love & Treason – Virinigia Boecker
Unread

I enjoy reading historical fiction but I don’t read it too often. To be honest I had forgotten I had this for a while and I think I’ll pick it up when I get a new historical fiction craving!

The Magic Misfits: the Second Story – Neil Patrick Harris
Read

Another I did read! I love this middle grade series so much. It super cute and the characters are great. I’m really enjoying the storylines and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

These Divided Shores – Sara Raasch
Unread

I totally forgot I have this book! When I came across it on my Goodreads own-tbr shelf I thought I had made a mistake at first haha. But this was super cheap and since I’m excepting to enjoy the first book in the series I thought it would be great to have the next one ready.

The Lovely and the Lost – Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Read

I actually did read this one, and pretty recently! Candyce and I did a buddyread and it was SO GOOD. While Jennifer Lynn Barnes is one of my favorite authors I didn’t expect to necessarily enjoy this one as much as her other work. Turns out I did!

Aquicorn Cove – Katie O’Neill
Read

I have Katie’s other series on my TBR but those books tend to be quite pricey. So when I saw this one for a good price I decided to try it. And it was quite good! I love the art and I still want to read the other series very badly.

Save the Date – Morgan Matson
Unread

I liked the Morgan Matson book I read before and I think this will be very cute. This was supposed to be one of my summer reads but I didn’t read as much books as I hoped I would. So I think this will have to wait for the next spring or summer!

The Beholder – Anna Bright
Unread

I’m not super interested in this one at the moment. So it might be awhile before I pick this one up since I have a ton of other books to read ;).

Not Even Bones – Rebecca Schaeffer
Unread

I’m not sure what this one is about but I do really want to read it. The whole trilogy is out at this point so I could potentially binge read it (but when do I ever?). It’s described as Dexter meets This Savage Song and that sounds simply amazing.

Strange Grace – Tessa Gratton
Unread

I want to read this one so badly!! It was already on my wishlist but after seeing some really positive reviews I’m so glad I got this one. Hopefully it will live up to my expectations, it might be one I read this winter.

Grim Lovelies – Megan Shepherd
Unread

Another one I’m not super interested in anymore, especially after seeing some not so positive reviews. At some point I might read it but it won’t be anytime soon.

Space Opera – Catherine M. Valente
Unread

This one I want to read so badly!! I’m loving sci-fi more and more and I haven’t read nearly enough book in the genre. There aren’t that many on my shelves either but this might be one I read soon.

So that’s another looking back at our bookhauls. Have you read any of the books in this haul? We’d love to hear what you think! It may make it easier for us to pick up the books we haven’t read yet!
