Tag | 12 Days of Christmas Book Tag

It’s December and that means it’s time for Christmas book tags!! There are a ton of Christmas book tag out there and while we have done a lot of them, there are still some we haven’t done yet. So for today I have the 12 Days of Christmas Book tag for you all. I found this tag over at The Sassy Book Geek and it was created by Lizzie Loves Books. Let’s jump right in!

ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE.

The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favorite stand alone?

I had a look at my standalone shelf on Goodreads and I’ve actually read a ton of amazing standalones haha. One of my absolute favorites though is The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle. This was such an amazing read and I wish I could read it for the first time again. I’m currently reading the authors second book and I’m really enjoying that one as well.

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TWO TURTLE DOVES.

Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

This is pretty hard! I have a lot of ships but I think the one I need to happen the most is Kaz & Inej. Kaz is one of my favorite characters ever and I loved what was going on between him and Inej. There was never a focus on any romance but it still came alive on the pages.

ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: THREE FRENCH HENS.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I don’t think there are a lot of trilogies where I rated all three books 5 stars, but one I did rate really high is The Folk of the Air trilogy. The Cruel Prince and The Queen of Nothing were 5 star reads for me and the The Wicked King was a 4 star reads. I read the series last year and binged it in no time!

ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FOUR CALLING BIRDS.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favorite series?

I love reading longer series and I have a ton I still need to finish. It seems only fair to pick a series I did read in it’s entirety and one I always rave about (despite its flaws) is the Throne of Glass series. This is the series that Candyce and I bonded over and you could say it was the start of this blog! I also just really love the story and the characters and will forever treasure it.

ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FIVE GOLDEN RINGS.

One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

There was one ‘villain’ that came to mind right away! And that is AIDAN. I loved AIDAN so much in Illuminae, and I love the discussion about the villainy of AIDAN. There are some logical choices that need to be made, but aren’t the humanly choices to make.

ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SIX GEESE A LAYING.

Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favorite world/world-building?

There are a couple worlds I love (the Wizarding World being one of them) but one that is very high on that list is the Grishaverse. I love the magic system, the expansive world we’ve seen so far and of course the characters that live in this world. The Netflix show can’t come soon enough for me, because I can’t wait for this world to come to live on my screen <3.

ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SEVEN SWANS A SWIMMING.

Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favorite animal sidekick?

I love animal sidekicks in books, I’m a big animal lover in general but magical animals just bring something extra. One of my favorite ‘animals’ is Mister Kindly from the Nevernight series. He is such an awesome and sarcastic sidekick, although I don’t think he would like t be called a sidekick haha.

ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

I hardly ever notice food in books to be honest, but whenever I get a tag question like this there is one book I can think of. And that is The Wrath & the Dawn. I remember reading that book and get hungry because of the food descriptions. At the moment I’m reading the webtoon version of the book and I can’t wait to see how they draw the food.

ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: NINE LADIES DANCING.

Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favorite kickass female lead?

There are so many kickass females in literature so it’s pretty difficult just picking one. I think I have to go with Mia from the Nevernight series, and talking about that series again makes me want to continue reading it as soon as possible! Mia is not a perfect character at all but I do love her so much, she’s very powerful but she’s also extremely loyal and I can’t wait to see where her journey goes next.

ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TEN LORDS A LEAPING.

How about your favorite leading lad?

This one was actually harder! I definitely read less books with leading lads but of course I do have a favorite haha. And that has to be Nikolai from King of Scars (and the rest of the Grishaverse books). I can’t wait to see who will portray him in the upcoming Netflix show, you better believe my expectations are high! Nikolai is such an amazing, smart, sweet character and I hope they do him justice.

ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: ELEVEN PIPES PIPING.

What is your favorite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

This could only be one books for me, This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. The music is very important in this one and I love the roll it plays. August is another favorite leading lad actually. I need to read more books based around music, especially fantasy books!

ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING.

Drum roll please…what is your favorite read of this year?

At the end of the year we’re doing our favorites lists so you have to wait a bit longer for this answer ;). I can tell you I’ve read some amazing books and it’s going to be difficult to make a numbered list.

And that was my Christmas tag today! I loved these questions but some were pretty difficult. Do you have any recommendations for books with (magical) music? I would love to read some more!
