Bookish Item| October TBR

It’s hard to believe it’s almost October! I’ve said this before, but 2020 is taking forever and flying by at the same time. The past few months I’ve talked about my monthly TBR and want to do that again today. So if you’re curious about my October TBR, keep on reading!

Once again, I’m going to be really ambitious, but I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t. To start off, I posted last week about the books I’ve started but really need to finish. I want to finish these before the end of the year, so need to read a few every month. Let’s start there.

Books I need to finish

King of Scars – Leigh Bardugo As I said in my post, I’m over halfway thorough King of Scars. It would be a shame to just let this one go, because I know I’d eventually have to start over again. I was loving it so far and am excited to see how it ends!

The Iron King – Julie Kagawa Another book I’m really just about done with. If I remember correctly I only have about 3 chapters to go. I was surprised I didn’t pick these up when they were really popular, but I’m glad I did. The story is definitely interesting.

Blog Tours

I can’t help but participate in tours that sound amazing. I have cute a few coming this month!

Rifts & Refrains – Devney Perry In September I read Lies & Lullabies and that was the start of this rock star romance series. Devney’s book is next in line and I’m excited to continue in this world.

Premeditated Myrtle & How to Get Away with Myrtle – Elizabeth C. Bunce I was approached by the publisher to read these two middle grade mysteries releasing on the same day. The stories sound really cute and it’s the perfect time of year to try and solve a mystery while reading.

Something Happened to Ali Greenleaf – Hayley Krischer I’m one that likes to read hard-hitting contemporary books from time to time and this will be one. This won’t be a book for everyone, because it deals with rape, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a powerful story.

Muses & Melodies – Rebecca Yarros This is the third and final book in this rock star romance trilogy and I’m excited to read Rebecca’s part in this series. She’s one of my favorite authors and I have a feeling it’ll be amazing.

House of Dragons – K.A. Linde I really enjoy this author’s books and I love that she can switch between different genres. I’m also a big fan of books with fae and I have a feeling this is going to be a great start of a new adventure!

I Hope You’re Listening – Tom Ryan It wouldn’t be the month of Halloween without another mystery or thriller. I Hope You’re Listening has a podcast and a main character trying to solve her best friend’s abduction. I’m really excited about this one.

A Golden Fury – Samantha Cohoe The Philosopher’s Stone isn’t something I’ve read a lot about in fantasy books, so I was excited when I read this synopsis. I’ve started this one already and after a few chapters I can say I’m enjoying this so far.

Winter, White & Wicked – Shannon Dittemore A book with an island cursed with eternal winter. I think that sounds really interesting. I think this is going to be a fast-paced book and quite an adventure.

Damaged Desires – LJ Evans I’m so excited about Damaged Desires. This author writes amazing books and I’ve been anxiously awaiting this one. I love how she combines music with her stories and I’m already loving the playlist.

Group Reads

Well Played – Jen DeLuca In the TBR and Beyond group on Facebook one of the mods and I started a monthly read, Swoon Along. In August we read Well Met, so we’re going to read the sequel that released this week.

Dragon Pearl – Yoo Ha Lee So I’m in a middle grade book club (Middle Grade Marvels) on Twitter and each month a poll is put up for a monthly read. Dragon Pearl won for October. I’ve seen this book around before and it sounds really interesting.

The Deathless Girls – Kiran Millwood Hargrave I actually picked this book up last December and have wanted to read it. In October this is one of the group reads in TBR and Beyond and I’m hoping to squeeze this one in!

The Bone Garden – Heather Kassner The creator of TBR and Beyond is a big middle grade fan and wanted to organize a spooky October middle grade readalong. I can’t say no to that! So this middle grade horror book was added to my TBR.

I have a few October releases that I’ve been able to get e-galleys for and really want/need to read them this month.

Among the Beasts & Briars – Ashley Poston I’ve actually only read this author’s contemporary books. This story sounds amazing and the cover is stunning! I can’t wait to read this.

One Way or Another – Kara McDowell Okay, so I’m reading some spooky things this month, but I just had to add a Christmas/holiday book as well. I love how warm and cozy they make me feel and this one just sounds really amazing and right up my alley.

Kingdom of the Wicked – Kerri Maniscalco I really enjoyed the Stalking Jack the Ripper series (even though I need to read the last book) and now the author is writing about witches. Yes, please! I can’t wait to read this.

Spoiler Alert – Olivia Dade I’ve been wanting to read this since I’ve heard about it, haha. Spoiler Alert has fan-fiction and a plus-sized character. Also, the story just sounds really amazing. I have a feeling I’ll fly through this book.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab Isabelle and I’ve started doing a buddyread for The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, but won’t be finished until October. What I’ve read so far is amazing and wow this author can write!!

Fix Her Up, Love Her or Lose Her & Tools of Engagement – Tessa Bailey A friend of mine is a big fan of the first two books in this series and I’ve been wanting to read them forever. She suggested them to me and we’ve decided to read them all together in October. I’m excited to finally get to these.

So this is my October TBR. It’s a little less ambitious than previous months, but I’m looking forward to all of these books. I get to read some spooky books, so I can even be ready for this time of year. I’m sure some will change, but these are on my list right now! What are you reading in October? Let me know in the comments!
