It’s been a little while since I actually watched this but I had to talk about it!..
Lifelong best friends Alexa Mendoza and Katie Cooper are anticipating the start of their freshman year of high school. They confront a crisis that leaves them feeling like outsiders at a time when what seems to matter most is fitting in.
This fourth and final season is about the girls senior year in high school. Which colleges will they go to, will they go to the same one, will this be the best year ever? All questions that are important during these last 8 episodes.
I started watching Alexa & Katie on a whim a while ago but I was pleasantly surprised by the show. It’s funny while it also deals with a very heavy topic; cancer. The friendship between Alexa and Katie is at the core of this show and it’s a beautiful friendship!
I thought this season was wayyy to short haha. With only 8 25 minutes episodes I watch this last season in a day I believe. Once you start you can hardly stop and before you know it, it all done. I really liked this last season, it had both the humor and the feelings of the previous seasons and I got what I was hoping for.
Two things stand out this season and made it a really good one. The first is the Stand Up to Cancer fundraiser. I loved the scenes for this fundraiser and the tears poured over my face. It was both beautiful and heartbreaking and so well done. But my absolute favorite part of the season and probably the whole show was the anxiety plot line.
Katie always was the more anxious one but this season her anxiety really showed itself. And Katie has a massive panic attack at some point. The actress did a spectacular job portraying this and once again I cried. This was so well done and quite relatable, I love seeing it on a screen like this. I also think the show had a great message about it all and that scene was one of the most impactful one’s I’ve seen all year.
I would highly recommend watching this show if you haven’t all ready. Like I said, it’s both beautiful, funny and also important. You fly through all four seasons and you will thank me once you’re done ;). Have you watched this show yet? I would love to hear your thoughts.
