Show Sunday | Get Even

Get Even was recently released on Netflix and I kept debating if I wanted to watch it right away. This tv show is based on the Don’t Get Mad duology by Gretchen McNeil and I’m a big believer of reading the book first. But I didn’t own the books yet and I just really wanted to watch this show haha. So last Thursday I decided to watch the first episode to see if it was for me. You might be able to guess how that went ;). So let’s talk about Get Even!

It follows four teenage girls at private elite school who form their own secret society to expose bullies.

Get Even is about four girls, all from different social groups at their private school, who formed a secret club to expose and get back at bullies. Kitty, Bree, Olivia and Margot don’t have much in common except for the fact they want to stop some bullies at their school.

We dive right into the story, the group is already formed (although we do get a flashback episode were we see how that happened) and pretty soon someone winds up dead. The girls group is know as DGM throughout the school and no one knows who they are. Everyone want to know though, especially when there is incriminating evidence at the crime scene that points in the direction of DGM as being a killer.

There are 10 episodes of only 30 minutes each. So of course I watched the whole season in one day haha. I thought this was a really enjoyable show and I liked the characters a lot. They start to bond over everything that happens and I loved seeing how they and their relationships developed. I kept switching who my favorite was, Olivia and Bree kept being the best but Margot had some AMAZING moments as well. Kitty was my least favorite for sure, even though I had a feeling she was supposed to be the main main character.

The mystery was engaging and I definitely didn’t figure everything out right away. I think I got it just a bit before it was all revealed which was quite satisfactory. The first season wraps the story up quite well but also leaves the door open to a second season. I would absolutely love a second season with these characters. It seems like this is a pretty underrated show so I hope it gets a lot of views now that it’s on Netflix!

I would highly recommend this show! If you like anything with a mystery element to it, this is the show for you. It has British guys (always a plus), amazing female characters that a lot of people can relate too and great music. Have you watch the show? Or read the books? Do you plan on watching it? Let me know in the comments!
