You know that feeling? After a long day of work you come home and just want to watch an episode of something to relax before you have to do more stuff. That was my mindset when I put on Netflix two weeks ago, and that’s when I realized the second season of The Politician was released. You might’ve guessed it already, but I didn’t do anything else that day and I finished the show in no time at all haha. Today I want to share my thought about this second season! So let’s dive in.
Payton Hobart, a student from Santa Barbara, has known since age seven that he’s going to be President of the United States. But first he’ll have to navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: Saint Sebastian High School.
This second season of the Politician picks up where the first one ended. A couple years after the main events of the first season, in New York with Payton running for New York Senator.
We still have most of the characters from the first season, and I’m happy for that because we got some wonderful characters the first time around. I will forever miss River though! In this second season we also got some great new characters and I’m already excited that some of them will stay for the third season.
This second season is all about the election for New York Senator and comes with a bunch of shenanigans. For this Dutchie is fascinating to watch all this election stuff. I’m sure it’s a bit ridiculous but that does make this show so funny. Ben Platt does an amazing job as Peyton and he gives us a very interesting character. I never know if I actually like Peyton and to be honest, that’s how I feel about most of these characters. Almost all of them did some crazy stuff but they’re still likable most of the time.
This show is incredibly addictive. I wasn’t sure if I liked it when I started watching the first season but I still finished it pretty quickly. And this second season I finished in one day! I’m already looking forward to the third season. We got a little sneak peek of what’s to come in the last scenes of the last episode and I’m pumped!
The Politician always has Ben/Peyton sing a couple of songs and he is an amazing singer. I’m still listening to his renditions of ‘River’ and ‘Vienna’ from the first season. This season he also has two great songs and I love listening to them.
All in all this was once again a wonderful season of The Politician. I can’t wait for the next season. While we know where the show is going, it still manages to surprise me. I also have to quickly mention the episode The Voters. In the first season we had an episode The Voter, which was a pretty good episode. But The Voters was simply amazing, I loved that episode! It’s also the highest rated episode of the whole show so that might tell you something ;).
Have you watched the Politician yet? I would highly recommend this Netflix show and hope you start watching it. If you did watch it, what did you think of this second season? Come talk to me in the comments!
