Bookhaul | June 2020

We said this when we posted our anticipated releases for July, but this year really is flying by. It’s the first of the month which means it’s time to show you if we added any books to our shelves. If you want to know, keep on reading to see our June bookhaul!

June was a good bookish month for me, even though I’ve had almost all of these delivered later than expected. I understand mail is slower with everything going on in the world, but it can still be frustrating! In June I added a total of seven books to my collection.

The Iron King – Julie Kagawa

The Iron King isn’t a new book and has been around for awhile. It did recently get a cover change and I’m happy, because I didn’t really care for the old ones. I’ve been interested in this book, but never got around to reading it. I picked it up for a buddy read I’ll be doing this month!

Charlie – Jennifer Hanks

The Dimarcos series has the best family ever and I’ve loved everything I’ve read. I have them all digitally so far, but I needed to get this one on my shelf, because it’s special. Charlie is special, because I’m in the dedication. I help run the author’s Facebook group and she’s the sweetest. Now to buy the rest of them!

Wasted Words – Staci Hart

I’ve read at least one book by Staci Hart and really enjoyed the story. She made me laugh. Wasted Words is a book I’ve been eyeing for awhile and finally bought it. The cover is adorable! I love all the illustrated covers lately. It’s a trend that I need to see more of.

The Shadow Wand – Laurie Forest

The Black Witch Chronicles is a series that needs to get a lot more hype than it does now. The Shadow Wand is the third book and so pretty! At the moment, I’m still working on the second book, but it’s going to be great when I can continue with the third book after that.

My Calamity Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

The first two books in The Lady Janies series were amazing and I’ve been anxiously awaiting My Calamity Jane. Even though this is the last of the trilogy, the authors have announced they’ll be writing another trilogy together and I’m so excited!

You Say it First – Katie Cotugno

If I’m honest, the cover was the first thing that caught my eye when I saw this book. You Say it First is my type of story though. I love when characters meet on the phone or through e-mail. It’s going to be a fun summer read!

The Loop – Ben Oliver

The Loop isn’t a book I’ve heard of until recently. It released in April and sounds really good. One of my best friends is reading it now and is loving the story a lot! She recommended it to me, so I had to buy it.

I’m still being a very good girl! This month I only added two new books and one of them was a gift. Unfortunately I’m not reading as much as I planned so my TBR stays pretty much the same but at least it’s not growing haha.

My Calamity Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

Of course I had to pre order this book! I loved the first two books in the series and like Candyce said, I’m super happy the authors announced a second trilogy. Unfortunately I haven’t read this book yet but Candyce and I plan on doing a buddyread starting the end of this week. Hopefully this one is as great as the other two books in the series.

Slay – Brittney Morris

I won a book in the bookish event of May in the TBR and Beyond Facebook group! How cool is that? And I decided to pick a book from my wishlist that was written by a Black author. I want to be better at having a diverse bookshelf and there aren’t nearly enough Black authors on these shelfs. Slay was already on my radar and I’ve heard some amazing things about this one. I hope to pick it up soon and hope it will live up to my expectations.

So these are the books we added to our shelves in June! If you’ve read any of them, we’d love to hear your thoughts. What did you buy this month that we should also add to our collections. Let us know in the comments!
