Looking Back at Our Bookhauls | June 2020

Last week we shared our June bookhauls and that means it time to look back at our June 2020 bookhauls. We keep buying books, but do we also read them? In these posts we take a look at previous bookhauls in the hope to keep reminding ourselves of all the awesome books we own. Let’s take a look!

Candyce

Last June I added seven books to my shelves. Which is actually a pretty decent month for me. I haven’t read as many as I would’ve expected though, haha. Let’s take a look!

The Iron King – Julie Kagawa
currently reading

The Iron King is actually a book on my nightstand right now. I started reading this one last year pretty soon after buying it, but got distracted. At the moment I’d say I have less than 100 pages left, so I should make this a priority this month.

Charlie – Jennifer Hanks
unread

Wow, I’m ashamed I haven’t read this one yet, haha. Especially with me being in the dedication. I love this author though and will make it right soon. This series is amazing and has a family you just want to be a part of.

Wasted Words – Staci Hart
unread

When I bought Wasted Words it was a book I kept seeing around and became curious about. I still haven’t read it though. I have a feeling that once I start I’ll be done before I know it.

The Shadow Wand – Laurie Forest
unread

If you haven’t read The Black Witch and love fantasy books I can’t recommend it enough. The world and characters are amazing. I recently read the book before The Shadow Wand and am afraid to start this one. The books are amazing, but they really hit you in all the feels. The final book in the series releases in a couple of months, so I need to catch up.

My Calamity Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows
read

The Lady Janies was such a fun trilogy and My Calamity Jane was so much fun to read. I still think the first one was my favorite, but Isabelle and I couldn’t put it down. These three authors have now started a new series together and I hope to read My Contrary Mary soon.

You Say it First – Katie Cotugno
read

I fell in love with this cover when I saw it and knew I needed You Say it First. The two main characters meet in an unexpected way and I loved reading about them getting to know each other. They both needed someone for certain reasons.

The Loop – Ben Oliver
unread

A friend of mine read this and loved it, but sad to say I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet. The sequel just came out, so it’s time to get started on this one!

Isabelle

My bookhaul last June was very decent! I only added two new books to my shelves. Not so bad to look back at haha. One hardcover and one paperback that I won in a giveaway. Let’s see if I also read them.

My Calamity Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows
read

I adore the Lady Janies and of course had to read this almost immediately. Once Candyce and I finally picked up My Lady Jane we were hooked and each next installment became one of our most anticipated reads. The Mary series just kicked of with the first book and we plan on reading it soon!

Slay – Brittney Morris
read

I never expected to love this one as much as I did. When I won a book from Bookdepository I picked this one and once I started reading I couldn’t stop. There is talk about racism but also a lot of Black joy. And that was beautiful to read. I had tears in my eyes at certain scenes and would highly recommend this book to everyone.
