It’s been a couple of months since I got an Illumicrate, but when I read the theme and description of their April box, I was really curious. On top of that, my boyfriend was curious about the Lord of the Rings item we would be receiving. The box was sent a bit later than normal with everything going on, so it’s almost the end of May before I’m unboxing my April Illumicrate, haha. Let’s take a look at the Squad Goals box!
As usual every box has a spoiler card letting you know what’s in the box and the artists. I love that they all have a design as well!
Aurora Rising Power Bank
Artwork by: ICANDRAWTHINGZ (@icandrawthingz)
I think this is my favorite item in the box. A power bank is such a good and unique idea. After reading Aurora Rising right before getting this box made me very excited. I’ll definitely be using this item often!
The Witchlands Character Bookmark Set
Artwork by: Merwild (@merwildandco)
Bookmarks with artwork of book characters are things I love adding to my collection. The Witchlands series by Susan Dennard is on my TBR. I own the first two books and definitely plan on using one of these when I give it a go.
Gilded Wolves Magnetic Whiteboard
Artwork by: Aentee (@aenteereads)
This is such a fun idea. I love the design and quote. Gilded Wolves is another book I really need to read this year (I have the e-arc of the sequel). After doing my unboxing, this one went right on to my refrigerator.
World Ahead Tote Bag
Artwork by: Rachel Bostick (@rachelbostickillustration)
Tote bags are always a good thing. There are never enough, haha. This one is based on Lord of the Rings and I love the artwork. The tote bag is really sturdy and I know it will be put to good use.
Best Laid Plans Pen
Created by: Illumicrate
The spoiler card says we all need a fancy planning pen in our lives, but I’m honestly a bit disappointed with this item. It’s a plastic pen and feels kind of cheap. I honestly wouldn’t have missed anything if this wasn’t put in this box.
Art Print of Characters from Dangerous Remedy
Artwork by: Nicole Deal (@nicoledealart)
Okay, I’m a big fan of artwork. I love seeing how the characters are described and it’s always fun to have when reading the book. My only thing about this artwork is that the paper it’s printed on is so thin and flimsy. I really wish they would’ve used something more sturdy. I feel it would’ve also done more justice to the artwork.
Dangerous Remedy – Kat Dunn
Last but not least, the book we got in this box is Dangerous Remedy by Kat Dunn. This book is gorgeous with an amazing cover and beautiful sprayed edges. You can’t see this on my picture now, but the end pages are also stunning. Under the dust jacket there was a surprise as well. Reading the synopsis gives me Six of Crows vibes and I’m looking forward to reading this story!
Besides a couple of little things, I really did enjoy my Illumicrate. Keep an eye out for another unboxing soon, because I just got an e-mail that my May box has shipped! My favorite part of these boxes is getting the special edition of the book!
Such a gorgeous cover! Sometimes I wish were living in USA or Canada so even I could subscribe to these amazing book boxes. I know a lot of them ship worldwide, but the shipping costs are way too much…
There are nice art surprises in the Illumicrate. Happy unboxing 🙂
