Review| Fae’s Defiance – M. Lynn & Melissa A. Craven

Last week I posted my review of the first book in the Queens of the Fae series, Fae’s Deception. This was a really interesting start of this series and the second book is already out! Fae’s Defiance is an amazing sequel and really left me needing the third book. Keep on reading to find out more!

A big thanks to the authors for providing me with an ARC to read and review.

Review| Fae’s Defiance – M. Lynn & Melissa A. Craven

Brea Robinson is a princess. Ridiculous, right?
She’s left her small Ohio town behind for an exotic palace beyond her imagination, trading old jeans for ballgowns and a drunken father for two Fae mothers.
Safe behind the power of Eldur, it’s easy to forget everything that brought her here.
Like the two men who saved her that are now missing.
The abducted princess who should be roaming the palace halls instead of her.
The war coming for them all.
As Brea comes to terms with this new world and the web of secrets surrounding her, she realizes she stands on the brink of losing everything she never knew she wanted.
The mothers who would die for her.
The Fae who loves her.
And the people of her kingdom who trust her to save them.
Only, Brea can barely save herself. With uncontrollable magic warring within her, it’s only a matter of time before she lets everyone down.
When the worst happens and the person she loves most falls into the enemy's hands, she has a choice to make. And if she bows to the enemy queen’s demands, will she remain a princess or become a sacrifice instead?

Review

“Power attracts the corruptible. Suspect any who seek it.”

Fae’s Defiance gave me everything I wanted from this sequel and more!! I already loved the first book and this one made me love this series so much. The dual POV really helped. I loved Lochlan’s thoughts and how he looks at things. I was really curious about him after the first book and now I love him. The authors really made sure to fill in more of the blanks we needed in this world and Brea’s story.

Brea becomes a very strong character for me in this book. Yes, she has her tantrums, but being thrown into a whole new world and being told she was meant for things she doesn’t want doesn’t make it easy. Brea is still learning to adapt to this new world, magic and all of the secrets that were kept from her. It has to be exhausting trying to figure out who to trust. She fights though and I honestly think she’s capable of more than she thinks she is and Brea starts proving that near the end of the book.

“How could she be an heir to two kingdoms when she didn’t want one? All she wished for was a family who cared about her and a home that felt like hers.”

Fae’s Defiance is the perfect balance of adventure, magic, mystery, romance and friendship. The authors had me laughing out loud multiple times and I’ve grown to care for these characters, including the amazing cast of side characters. I can’t wait to find out how this story will continue in the next book, because I need them all to live happily ever after! I know this review is shorter and a bit vague, but with this being a sequel, I don’t want to give away too much.

Luckily as I’m typing this I just got an ARC for the third book! So keep an eye on the blog for my review of Fae’s Destruction! If you like fantasy series that give you twists and turns, make you laugh and have amazing characters, I definitely recommend Queens of the Fae!
