We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books I Wish I Had Read as a Child but I wasn’t really feeling that. So I decided to go with the genre freebie from a couple of week ago. I don’t read as much science fiction as I would like to so I decided to take a look at some of the science fiction books on my TBR! Let’s dive in.
1.Skyward – Brandon Sanderson
As soon as I thought of this topic I knew this had to be number 1. I love all the Brandon Sanderson books I’ve read so far and I’ve heard so many amazing things about this one. Candyce and I had planned on reading it this month but it doesn’t look like it will happen for me haha. Hopefully soon though!
2. The Martian – Andy Weir
I’m actually already reading this one, although I have been doing so for months haha. It’s been a bit since I actually read some pages but I highly enjoyed what I was reading! I haven’t seen the movie yet so I have no idea how all of this is going to end.
3. On The Edge of Gone – Corinne Duyvis
I love that this is a Dutch author who gets published in English. A couple of years ago I actually had the opportunity to meet and interview her and she’s so nice. The book is set in (or near) Amsterdam and that’s not something you see often so I’m very excited.
4. Sleeping Giants – Sylvain Neuvel
I recently read The Test by Sylvain Neuvel and absolutely loved it! It was such a great read and I got even more excited to finally pick up Sleeping Giants. The synopsis sounds very interesting and I’ve heard amazing things about this series, especially the first one.
5. Scythe – Neil Shusterman
Everyone seems to love this one! Candyce read it and enjoyed it a lot and I’m excited to dive in. I remember seeing this book around when it first released and I immediately put it on a wishlist. Candyce got me this one for one of our exchanges and now all I need to do is finally read it.
6. Shadow Run – Adrianne Strickland & Michael Miller
A friend of mine, Melissa from Melissasfandomworld loved this one so much and has been raving about it ever since. This seems to be a YA novel that flew completely under the radar but I think it could be very much to my liking.
7. Invictus – Ryan Graudin
I have been wanting to read a Ryan Graudin book forever and I still haven’t. This is a sci-fi standalone, something we don’t see that often in my opinion, and the synopsis is super cool. Some of my friends DNF’ed this one, others loved it and I’ve also seen some 3 star reviews. So I’m honestly not sure what to expect haha.
8. Unearthed – Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
From the reviews this looks very much like a middle of the road book. That being said, the synopsis sounds interesting to me and I do already own the book haha. I still have hopes for this one, it might be right up my alley so let’s hope I’ll enjoy it.
9. This Mortal Coil – Emily Suvada
I love the cover for this but did lose my interest for a while. However, the reviews are really good and so many of my Goodreads friends seem to love it. So I will give it a shot as it might be very enjoyable. All three books in the trilogy are released so if I do enjoy it I can keep on going with the series.
10. LIFEL1K3 – Jay Kristoff
I love the Jay Kristoff books I’ve read so far and I can’t wait to read more. Everyone (as in Jay Kristoff fans haha) seems to really like this one as well so I’m excited to pick it up. I do plan on finishing the Nevernight series before picking up his other books but I can’t wait to get there!
So these are 10 of the science fiction books I have on my TBR. I’m excited to read them as I have been really enjoying all the scifi books I have read lately. Have you read any of these? Or do you have some scifi recommendations? Tell me all about it in the comments!
