It’s that time of month again to look back at one of our previous bookhauls. This month it’s time for March 2019. This is our birthday month, so the amount of books we ending up collecting could go either way, haha. What did we get, what have we read? Let’s take a look!
In March of 2019, I only added a total of 8 books to my collection. I had a feeling that this month wasn’t going to be too good when it comes to what I’ve already read. That being said, I will be adding these to my TBR very soon. I want to read them all, so I need to get going!
A Girl Called Shameless – Laura Steven
I’m actually really shocked that I haven’t read A Girl Called Shameless yet. The Exact Opposite of Okay has become of my all time favorite books and I even did a reread last year. This will be a book I read this year!!
The Triumphant – Lesley Livingston
This is a series I’m apparently going to take forever to finish, haha. Isabelle and I ended up reading The Defiant the month before The Triumphant was released, so that we could finish the next month. That never happened, haha. I want to know how it ends though, so this is yet another book I need to read ASAP.
Rayne & Delilah’s Midnite Matinee – Jeff Zentner
Jeff Zentner is an author I’ve heard amazing things about. I actually own all three of his books. A few people I know told me I should start with his first book first, so I’ll just have to plan on three of these to read soon.
Two Can Keep a Secret – Karen M. McManus
I’m still so happy with my copies of the books this author’s written. They all have sprayed edges. Today’s post is boring for me, because I haven’t read this one either, haha. I do really want to read Two Can Keep a Secret though. Hopefully soon!
Enchantee – Gita Trelease
I’ve been saying this for awhile, I really need to read more historical fiction. According to Goodreads the sequel has been pushed back, so I have a little more time to get to what seems to be a really good book!
Truly Devious – Maureen Johnson
Finally a book I can say that I’ve read, haha. Truly Devious suprised me in a pleasant way. I loved the mystery and the dual timelines. The next book, The Vanishing Stair, was added to my shelves last Christmas and I can’t wait to continue with this trilogy.
The Bone Witch – Rin Chupeco
Another book I’ve heard a lot about, but still haven’t gotten around to reading. The Bone Witch seems like it will be a darker book, more so than some I’ve been reading lately. I love books with witches, so I can’t wait to read it.
Heart of Thorns – Bree Barton
If I’m honest, this was definitely a cover buy, well gift. I added it to my wishlist. Heart of Thorns sounds really good though. With the mention of forbidden magic and royalty, I knew I needed to have this book.
Read: 1/8 – 12.5%
TBR: 7/8 – 87.5%
I am super scared to look at this one. From what I remember, I added quite some books to my collection and I’m pretty sure I didn’t read them all… Let’s dive in!
Lifelike – Jay Kristoff
I did read some more Jay Kristoff since this haul and I’m exicted to read this one. However, I do think I’ll first read the rest of the Nevernight trilogy before jumping into this one. The series will probably be completed by then so I can bingeread the whole thing!
Senlin Ascends – Josiah Bancroft
I’m glad I did read this one! The beginning was a bit difficult but I started listening to the audiobook and that was the perfect choice. I highly enjoyed it and I plan on continuing with the series.
The Winner’s Curse – Marie Rutkoski
I have been planning on reading this series for years now! The series has been completed for 4 years already and I actually own the eARC for the beginning of the new series set in the same world. I plan on reading this one this year so I can pick up the eARC as well.
The Magic Misfits – Neil Patrick Harris
I adored the Magic Misfits! Such a fun MG read that I picked up thanks to Candyce. I already own the second book in the series and plan on reading it in May.
The Archies and other stories – Matthew Rosenberg
This one wasn’t as good as I was hoping, and I ended up giving it 3,5 stars. I did like it and bought the first volume in the Jughead: the Hunger series after reading this!
Bloodwitch – Susan Dennard
I can’t believe I still haven’t continued with this series! The first two books in the series are amazing and I was so excited to receive and start Bloodwitch. I’ve also heard amazing things about this installment and I hope it can live up to my expectations.
A Girl Called Shameless – Laura Steven
Another one I can’t believe I haven’t read. I really loved the first book and thought this one started super funny once again. My plan in to read it in the coming months, let’s hope I can follow through 😉
A Curious Beginning – Deanna Raybourn
Another one I plan on reading in the coming months. The synopsis sounds amazing and I did like what little I already read. This is the first in a series so if I enjoy it I can continue with 4 more books!
A Discovery of Witches
I’ve been reading more adult fantasy but haven’t come around to reading this one yet. The tv show looked great but I won’t watch it until I’ve read this one. I think it’s going to take me awhile to get through this one, but at some point I will!
Kings of the Wyld
Candyce recently picked this one up, but I still haven’t. I have heard amazing things though! It isn’t on my immediate TBR but I’m still very excited to read it.
Wundersmith – Jessica Townsend
I loved Wundersmith! This series is amazing and I can’t wait for the next book. I’m so sad the release date got pushed back until August but I’m sure it’s going to be worth the wait!
Fire & Heist – Sarah Beth Durst
I was able to buy this one from a friend but I still haven’t read it yet. There were a lot of disappointing reviews unfortunately. It is a standalone and I do like to finish a fantasy story every now and then 😉
The Storm Crow – Kalyn Josephson
Another one with mixed reviews. It hasn’t really ‘spoken’ to me yet and I haven’t felt the urge to pick it up this last year. Hopefully I’ll want to read it at some point.
Sadie – Courtney Summers
I can’t believe I haven’t read this one yet. But I did started listening to the audiobook last week so I should finish it soon! So far it’s quite interesting and I’m excited to see where the story will take me. And the audiobook is fantastic!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina vol. 1 – Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa
I read and loved this one! Sabrina is one of my favorite shows and it was great reading the graphic novel it’s based on. There were some key differences but it was very enjoyable. I definitely plan on picking up the rest of the series.
Fence vol. 2 – C.S. Pacat
Fence is AMAZING. I adore these boys and this series so much. The new volumes don’t come out nearly quick enough though haha. I believe the next one comes out the end of June and I can’t wait!
Shades of Magic vol. 1 – V.E. Schwab
I love V.E. Schwab and I adore her Shades of Magic series. It’s a super interesting universe and it’s great having this graphic novel series as a prequel. I’ll admit it isn’t as good as I was hoping it would be but I still plan on reading the rest of the series.
Read: 7/17 – 41%
TBR: 10/17 – 59%
So that’s another look at what we bought last year. If you’ve read any of these, what did you think? We love talking about books, so let us know in the comments! We’ll be back with another looking back at our bookhauls next month. Hopefully we’ve read a lot of those, haha.
