Bookish Item | Favorite Covers of 2019

This past week we’ve been talking about all the books we’ve loved and a few that disappointed us. People always say don’t judge a book by its cover, but even if you don’t want to, it’s still the first thing you see when you pick up a book. So today we wanted to devote a post to our favorite covers of 2019, let’s take a look!

Crier’s War – Nina Varela The picture of this cover does not do it justice! I’ve seen it in real life and it’s just so stunning. I haven’t even read this book yet and I want it just because it’s so pretty!

A Treason of Throns – Laura E. Weymouth This author has had so much luck with her covers. I could stare at them all day. A Treason of Thorns has so many beautiful colors and details! After reading this book, I can also say that it really fits this book well.

We Set the Dark on Fire – Tehlor Kay Mejia Even though this cover doesn’t have a lot of details, it’s the colors that really caught my eye. They blend together so well and I can’t wait to read this story and see if the little details have meaning to the story.

The Tiger at Midnight – Swati Teerdhala As someone who isn’t a fan of covers with people on the cover, I actually like how this one was designed. We only see the shape of the character and the colors are stunning. After this book released, I haven’t heard a lot about it, but I definitely want to pick it up!

A Dress for the Wicked – Autumn Krause Another cover that knows how to show a character without having an actual person on the cover. I love the colors and how it’s designed. Reading stories about competitions is something I really enjoy, so I’ve added this one to my list.

Reverie – Ryan La Sala Look at that beauty! I have an eARC of this one and should really pick it up. But until then I can admire the gorgeousness of this book. I haven’t seen this one in real life but I’m pretty sure it’s very shiny!

King of Scars – Leigh Bardugo I’m so happy I own this one. The gold is a bit of a dark gold and it looks amazing. There are a ton of details on this cover and I love looking at it. Luckily I also adored the book <3

Perfectly Preventable Deaths – Deirdre Sullivan This is probably one of my favorite covers of the year. Without knowing what this is about, I have been tempted to buy it multiple times haha. The details are gorgeous and it’s even better in person. Just talking about it makes me want to order it right away!

Wicked Saints – Emily A. Duncan I love the feel this book gives you! It fits the overall feel of the story super well. I adore the color scheme and the details and I just love it!

The Beautiful – Renée Ahdieh Simple but perfect! It’s gorgeous, its red, it has rose petals. What more can we ask for? I love the simplicity and the details on the cup. The rose petals looks super nice and the book has that soft feel.

In An Absent Dream – Seanan McGuire Talking about details! Look at that tree, and especially the door in the tree. I love the look of the cover and it fits the story perfectly. All the covers in this series are super nice and this one did not disappoint!

Tunnel of Bones – Victoria Schwab I loved the cover for City of Ghosts but I think I love this one even more. You can right away tell that it takes place in Paris. And that we’ll be visiting the catacombs. I also really love the story so this is just perfect.

The Guinevere Deception – Kiersten White I haven’t read this one yet but I love the colors on it a lot. Normally I’m not a fan of people on covers but when they’re illustrated like this I don’t mind it. Hopefully the story is as good as the cover!

Courting Darkness – Robin LaFevers I loved the first two books in the Fair Assassin’s series and I can’t wait to start this spin off series. Look at that gorgeous sword with all the details. I simply love it and I’m sure it will look at least as good in person.

The Tenth Girl – Sara Faring Such a creepy gothic vibe this one gives off. I can just keep on looking at this one. Unfortunately I really didn’t like the story and DNF’ed it. I might try again at a later moment but for now I will just have to appreciate the book for it’s cover 😉

Romanov – Nadine Brands Nadine always seems to get the most gorgeous covers! I haven’t read any of her books yet but they’re all on my wishlist. The color scheme is wonderful and it as a ton of great details.

Serpent & Dove – Shelby Mahurin There have been a lot of snakes on covers this year but this one is the best! It’s gold, which is a big plus. This cover also has the best dove I’ve seen. Another big plus, I loved the story.

Even though we haven’t read most of these books, we’re impressed by these stunning covers! What book covers were you really impressed with in 2019? Let us know in the comments.
