Royal Update #1

We thought it was time for a fun new post every week. In the Royal Update one of us updates you about our personal life, bookish news, what we’re reading, watching and listening to and anything else that might apply to this post. We thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our personal lifes and hope you think so too!

A week ago I went to Disneyland Paris and I had the most wonderful time! I went with two friends for 3 days. We went on a ton of rides, watched the parades and took a lot of pictures. It had been a while since I last went to Disney during Christmas time, so I loved seeing all the decorations again.

I usually go to Disney with my brother and we always know what we want to do. So we kinda stick to that every time haha. This time I did a lot of things we normally skip! We hardly ever look at the parades, we skip some rides and we never stand in line for a picture with any of the figures. This time around, I did do all those things!

I loved taking pictures with these figures and will definitely try to convince my brother to do so again next time haha. We were quite lucky with the lines and they are also using an app for some figures, that’s how we got a spot for Jack Skeleton. But the picture that was most fun was with Goofy! I was wearing my Goofy sweater and he loved it! My face pretty much says it all 😉

Unfortunately this update isn’t all good news. Some of you might know I had a riding accident a couple of years ago. My leg has been pretty messed up ever since and I have a surgery planned this Wednesday. I have a lot of pain everyday, I have days were I can hardly walk and can’t ride my horse. So I really hope this surgery will solve at least part of that problem. It’s going to be the fifth surgery on that leg in 4,5 years so I truly hope this will be the last one! To end this update on a happier note, I’ll leave you with a couple more Disney pics haha.

I got two interesting eARC’s from Harlequin Trade Publishing. Before their email I hadn’t heard of these books but they sound really promising. The first is A Beginning At The End by Mike Chen and the second is The Unwilling by Kelly Braffet. I’m looking forward to read these two and will definitely share my review as soon as I did read them.

I’m currently reading 10 Blind Dates, as I’m participating in the TisTheSeasonAThon reading challenge. For that challenge I also want to at least start either Carry On or preferably The Golden Compass. If you read our buddy review of The Cruel Prince, you might’ve seen I also plan on reading The Wicked King this week. And lastly I need to read a book in a duology for the Magical Winter Readathon. It’s a pretty ambitious TBR for the week but I hope to read a lot after my surgery!

I don’t have that much bookish news for this first Royal Update but there is one piece of very exciting news! The first episode of the online adaptation of Nevernight is online! You can watch the episode on Youtube. It’s basically a fanmade series, but a pretty professional one I believe. Jay Kristoff is super excited about it and shares new about it often. This first episode is only 8 minutes long, so I will be watching it right away. There will be three episodes, showing us Mia’s road to the Red Church. Episode two will be released December 4th, and episode three on December 6th.

In our Event Impression about Dutch Comic Con I already shared a lot of the things I bought recently. But as you might imagine, I also bought some things in Disney. I was a very good girl and didn’t buy that much this time. First I got a Christmas ornament for the bookish swap I’m participating in. It’s pretty simple but super cute!

It was super cold and while I did bring a beanie, I decided I needed more haha. They had a lot of cute beanies/hats in Disney and I ended up buying two. I adore them a lot and everyone tells me how much they like them.

And lastly I went to the Lego store in the Disney Village. For the past year I think, I put all my coins in a piggybank. And that piggybank is super cute, it’s Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast haha. Anyways, I took all the 1 and 2 euro coins out, and the 50 cents ones as well. They added up to 125 euros, so I allowed myself to spend that on (Harry Potter) Lego. Some of you might’ve seen one of them on our Instagram Stories already, as I put together the first one last Friday.

It was so much fun putting this one together! The box says it’s for 8 years and older but I think it would be pretty difficult for an eight-year old. They added a lot of cool details and you actually open the bus from the top and from the side. I displayed it on top of my bookcase and hope to add more pieces soon. As I mentioned, I got one other piece of lego, and that’s this beauty!

I haven’t been watching that many shows these last two weeks as I try to save them for after my surgery haha. But I did watch some! I watched the new season of Atypical. This is an awesome show with a main character that is on the autism spectrum. I adore the characters and can’t wait for the next season.

Another show I started recently is Santa Clarita Diet. What a funny show! I laughed out loud so many times, and once again I adore the characters. Last thing I need to mention is The Good Place. I just watch the mid-season finale, and oh my god. The wait for the rest of the final season is already killing me! This show is simply amazing, I love the story, I love the concept, it makes laugh and it makes me cry. So sad it’s ending after this season, but also very happy they’re going out on a high.

In Disney we started listening to a new song from Frozen II and ever since that moment is has been on repeat haha. Both the film version and the version by Panic! At the Disco. I’m talking about Into the Unknown. This is my favorite song at the moment and it doesn’t look like I’ll be sick of it anytime soon. So here you all go 😉

I’m also listening to the new The Script album: Sunsets & Full Moon. My friend and I have tickets for their show in March, it will be my third the Script show and I can’t wait! I have been a fan of their music since the beginning and while I still like their older stuff a little beter, I’m also loving this new album. These guys are so talented and they deserve all the attention.

This was my first Royal Update! We plan on doing one every week, next week will be Candyce’s turn. Did you miss anything or is there something I talked about that you don’t care about? Please let us know in the comments! We really like this new post, but are always open to suggestions 😉
