Looking Back at Our Bookhauls| June 2018

We’re loving this post every month, although its also a kinda scary moment every single time haha. With all the books we buy we have quite the collection, but we also have a LOT of unread books. So the question remains, did we read the books we bought a year ago? Let’s take a look at another Looking Back at Our Bookhauls from June 2018!

In all honesty, I’m always afraid of these posts, haha. I love all the books I buy, but these posts make me want to pick up all of my unread books at once. In June 2018 I added four books to my collection, so that’s not too bad.

Okay, I’m starting off with a book I haven’t read yet. I really did want to pick this up sooner, but so many books are available to me at the moment. In all honesty I think I haven’t picked this one up yet, because Caraval disappointed me a bit. Even though I enjoyed reading it, I guess I expected more? Finale is now out, so hopefully I can get to this one soon!

This was one of my most anticipated releases last year, so of course I had to pick this one up. I actually did a reread of Follow Me Back and continued with this one in the same month. Just like with Follow Me Back, this is just a book you can’t put down. I recently learned about a new book by this author releasing later this year. I can’t wait!

I remember how upset Isabelle and I were with ourselves after reading My Lady Jane at the beginning of last year. My Lady Jane was so good and I couldn’t resist buying My Plain Jane. I read this book already and even though I loved it, waiting for the third one that comes out next year hasn’t been fun at all!

Reign of the Fallen – Sarah Glenn Marsh

In all honesty, I still don’t have a picture, haha. If you keep scrolling, Isabelle put a picture in her part of the post. Like I said in the haul post, I have already read this book. I really enjoyed it, so much so, that I bought the sequel when it released this year and have already finished it!

I got 7 books in June 2018, pretty decent in my opinion! It seems like every year I slow down a bit after insane months of buying and getting allll the books with Christmas and my birthday and stuff. And then once fall starts, there are a ton of highly anticipated releases and I will buy more again haha. For now, just these 7!

My Plain Jane – Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, & Jodi Meadows

The first one is one I read right away, yay. It took me quite a while before I finally picked up My Lady Jane, but My Plain Jane was one I read almost as soon as I got it. I loved this book and am eagerly awaiting My Calamity Jane! Hopefully they’ll do another ‘series’ like this one after that because only 3 books like this is just cruel haha.

Tell Me No Lies – A.V. Geiger

Candye gifted me the first book in this duology for my birthday last year and I read that one the same night I got it haha. No surprise that I read this one pretty soon after getting it as well. And a new book by this author was just announced, I hope its as addictive as this duology was!

The Wicked + The Divine – Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Matt Wilson & Clayton Cowles

My only graphic novel for this month! I think this was a bit before I really started to work on my graphic novel collection haha. Back then I hadn’t read that much GN either and I might’ve been a little to positive about this one. I probably won’t pick up the rest of this series unless I can read it on Scribd or through a library or something. Still think that cover is gorgeous though!

Night Film – Marisha Pessl

I had such high hopes for this one! After I started the audiobook, I also got a physical copy so I could look at the mixed media they used. In the end, unfortunately, this was just not an enjoyable read for me. It ended up being one of my biggest disappointments of 2018 actually.

Legendary – Stephanie Garber

After being a bit disappointed with Caraval, I couldn’t get myself to actually pick up Legendary. I have since heard that basically everyone liked this sequel a lot better than the first book and I own the whole trilogy. So I do plan on reading this one, hopefully this year. The naked hardbacks are so gorgeous and I’m really glad I own these.

Grace & Fury – Tracy Banghart

This might have been one of the last Fairyloot boxes I ordered. I’ve read hardly any of the books I got in those boxes and plan on taking a good look at which ones I want to keep. It’s kinda ridiculous how many unread books I own for me to also have books I’m not even that interested in. A lot of my friends rated this 3 stars, although there are also 4 and 5 stars by friends of mine so I’m not really sure where I will fall.

Reign of the Fallen – Sarah Glenn Marsh

I started reading this one a long time ago but had put it down in favor of something else. Recently however, I picked it back up! I’m not going super fast since I’m reading a ton of books at the same time but I am enjoying it!
