Looking Back at Our Bookhauls | October 2017

We decided to add a new post to the blog. As you know, we show you the books we bought or received every month. This got us thinking, how many books have we actually already read from our hauls? So now once a month we will be looking back at our bookhauls from a year ago and tell you what we have read!

If we haven’t read many of them, hopefully this will motivate us a bit more to read more of the books we already own, haha. So this month we will talk about our bookhaul in October 2017.

My bookhaul from October 2017 was actually really good! I only added three books to my collection. If you read the post from last year, you will notice I always received e-books to review. I will not add those to these posts. I really want to concentrate on my physical TBR. Okay, let’s see what I bought last October.

Without Merit – Colleen Hoover

Even though I’m a big fan of this author’s work, I haven’t gotten around to reading Without Merit. I should be ashamed, haha. Without Merit is a book I have heard mixed reviews about, so I wonder what if I will end up loving this book or not.

Trust Me I’m Lying – Mary Elizabeth Summer

I read this one for our buddy review. Some things were predictable, but it wasn’t all bad. I will be rereading it again soon, so we can finish our first project we’ve needed to get to for awhile, haha.

Girl Made of Snow and Glass – Melissa Bashardoust

Another book I haven’t gotten around to reading yet! This Snow White retelling really does interest me. It seems like a winter read, so hopefully I can squeeze it in right after the holidays.

Okay, even though I didn’t buy much last October, I haven’t even read half of what I bought. I’m already afraid to see what November is going to look like!

End Result:
Read: 1/3 – 33.3%
TBR: 2/3 – 66.7%

Same as Candyce I will only focus these posts on the physical copies I got each month. After a couple of months of bookhauls we also stopped talking about ebook in our bookhauls and my TBR problem involves physical books more than ebooks 😉 October 2017 wasn’t too bad and I added 6 books to my collection.

Monstress vol 2. – Marjorie Liu

I actually already read this one when we posted our original bookhaul haha. So I’m good for this first one! I also just ordered the third volume in this series, so you’ll see that one in the November bookhaul.

Forest of a Thousand Lanters – Julie C. Dao

I’m so ashamed that I haven’t read this one yet! Ever since I heard about this book I was looking forward to it. But somehow I never picked it up even though it’s been staring at me since the moment I got the book. I was thinking of possibly picking it up this month!

Language of Thorns – Leigh Bardugo

While I love Leigh Bardugo and the Grishaverse I have only read a couple of pages. I enjoy reading short stories but in an anthology book it somehow takes me quite a while. With Kingdom of Scars coming out in January I do want to read these Grisha fairytales before then.

Trust Me I’m Lying – Mary Elisabeth Summer

This was the first book Candyce and I used for our secret project, which we’ll be telling you all about soon hopefully. I did enjoy this book, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. It’s the first one in a series and I do plan on getting the next books.

Dazzling Heights – Katherine McGee

It took me a while but I actually finished this one last August. So yeah me, I can cross another one off the list. This is the second book in the trilogy and hope to pick up the last one soon as we definitely got a cliffhanger!

Invictus – Ryan Graudin

I want to read a Ryan Graudin book so badly and I have had this one for a year now, but I still haven’t picked it up. And I feel pretty bad haha, maybe this will help me pick it up sooner… you can bet I’m already checking out the next couple of bookhauls to see which books I NEED to read haha.

End Result:
Read: 3/3 – 50%
TBR: 3/3 – 50%

Once again, it was very interesting to see what we bought last year. Have you read any of the books we bought in October 2017? Any favorites?

    1. It’s pretty scary to see, haha. We’re hoping it will motivate us more to pick up older books. Definitely let us know of you do decide to give it a try.

  1. I haven’t read any of the books you guys bought but I have a friend who loves Monstress and thinks I should read it! I love the idea of re-visiting you book hauls a year later and seeing how many you actually read <3

    1. It’s a great way to see if we’re just buying a bunch of books or if we read them as well hahahaha. But I also like to just look back at the books I really wanted to read a year ago and maybe finally pick them up now!
Mostress is amazing and I can’t wait for my copy of vol 3 to arrive. Would highly recommend them 🙂
