Tag | Tropes Books Tag

This past week I saw this amazing tag at the channels of a couple of my favorite booktubers. And I just knew I had to do it as well! This is one of the hardest tags I ever did to be honest but I love the idea and the questions. The tag is the Tropes Books Tag and it’s created by Jes Reads Books. Let’s take a look at those questions.

1. Hopelessly Devoted: Name two characters from separate series that you ship!

We start off DIFFICULT! This reminds me of the mash-up topic for a previous TTT haha. It took me forever to think of pairings for that one and this one is even more difficult. I kinda want to say I can’t think of any haha. Maybe it’s because I’m tired but I’ve been scrolling through Goodreads FOREVER and can’t find any. Please help me out with a good one in the comments!

2. Damsel In Distress: Name a female MC who didn’t need a man to complete her

Safiya from the Witchlands series doesn’t need a man at all! This story is more about friendships and family relations than it is about love interests in my opinion. That doesn’t mean I don’t ship certain characters though 😉 But I don’t think Safiya NEEDS a man, she’s doing just fine with Iseult.

3. Love at first sight: name your OTP

Dorian is one of my favorite characters ever and I ship him with another favorite, Manon. I loved how their story progressed in Kingdom of Ash, I know not everyone agrees with me but I was personally okay with it. And I can’t get enough art of them (or with Abraxos).

4. Mental Illness As A Quirk: Name a book that represented mental illness well

I think Eliza and her Monsters did a great job at portraying anxiety. It was written in a very relatable manner in my opinion. Both this book and Fangirl are my favorite non-fluffy contemporaries and it’s mostly because of the way we were shown the anxiety.

5. The Chose One: name a main character that did (or almost did) ruin a series for you

I actually have two MC’s that come to mind! First up is Juliette from the Shatter Me series, I wasn’t planning on continuing that series after the first book. I am happy that I did because I love Kenji and Warner and I actually really enjoyed the latest book that was released. The second one is Alina from the Grisha trilogy, I love love love that world but Alina just wasn’t for me. And Mal made it even worse, such a boring character!

6. Friends to Lovers: name a duo that went from friendship goals to relationship goals

Maybe not exactly friendship goals but they definitely made it to relationship goals; Lara-Jean and Peter Kavinsky! My favorite fluffy contemporary story and one of my favorite couples ever. They are so cute together and Peter is simply amazing. And the movie obviously helped with this as well haha.

7. Amnesia: name a book you would forget for one reason or another

Dangerous Girls is probably my favorite YA mystery/thriller and I would love to experience that one for the first time again. I had never read a book like that and I loved it so much. Since then I have read more books like it but none as good as Dangerous Girls. I haven’t reread this one, and I do wonder if I liked it so much more than others because it was the first like it I read. So I would love to reread like it was the first time.

8. Bad Boys: name your favorite villain

This is quite a difficult one! I especially love antiheroes and morally grey characters. After looking through my physical and Goodreads shelves for the perfect answer, I’m going back to the first one that popped into my mind haha. And that is a character from Red Queen. I don’t want to say who it is because that will be a spoiler if you haven’t read the series yet. Shame on me, I still need to read book 3&4 so I don’t know how this will end but for now that’s who am going with.

9. Missing Parents or Adults: name a book that could have benefited from a bit of parental guidance or adult supervision.

While I really enjoyed Contagion by Erin Bowman and I can’t wait for the sequel, I do think everything would’ve turned out different with adult supervision. Or at least, I hope someone would’ve been thinking rational and would’ve taken our crew out of that place before it got completely out of hand.

10. Girl\Guy Gang: tag some friends
I tag:
Melissa
Melanie
Destiny

I hope you all have as much fun with this tag as I had! It’s is a pretty difficult one but I like a challenge 😉 Let me know in the comments which MC almost ruined a series for you!

  1. First: thanks for tagging me! Looking forward to fill in the tag myself!

Loved reading your answers! The first one is already so much fun! I did an RIP it or SHIP it tag in the past in which you have you ship or rip characters from different series and that has been so much fun to do! If I’m republishing it on the blog, I’ll make sure I’ll tag you guys!

I really need to buy Eliza and her Monsters soon!

I’m on board with number 5 and you choosing Juliette. She wasn’t my favorite either but Warner and especially Kenji I love to read about so much! And Alina.. I’ve been stuck somewhere in book 2 and still need to continue reading but I don’t know for sure yet what it was that held me back.

To me personally, Mare from the Red Queen series has ruined my reading experience. I really liked her in Red Queen but in its sequel I was so frigging annoyed by her that I never even finished reading the book. But… I’ve been planning a re-read for quite a while now. I’m willing to give it another go and see how I feel about her then and maybe I can overlook some things since I’ve been reading that it gets so much better towards the end of the book, so we’ll see.

My favorite friendship to relationship goal is, how could I not answer this when reading the book atm, Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn.
