We have been having fun with these Top Ten Tuesdays, so we decide we will do one every week. This bookish meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! This will be changing January 16th. Starting then we will find the Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week is all about the books I meant to read in 2017 but didn’t get to – and I totally plan on reading in 2018 π – Let’s take a look at those 10 books! I picked all 2017 (except 1) releases I already own.
This Is Our Story – Ashley Elston
This first one is the only 2016 release on this list! I got this one last summer and was super excited to read it. However I got so many books this summer that I still haven’t read it yet. I get a bit of an autumn vibe from this one so I might wait till then to read it.
Daughter of the Pirate King – Tricia Levenseller
I got this one in an Owlcrate (you’ll sense a theme here soon…) and heard tons of good things about it. The second book will be released soon and seems a really anticipated release for everyone who’s read this one. I love pirates and the synopsis sounds great. Hope to read it soon.
Forest of a Thousand Lanterns – Julie C Dao
I got this one in a Fairyloot and was anticipating this book for the longest time! I’m kinda ashamed to say I still haven’t read it yet. This was one of my most anticipated releases this year, probably right after all the releases in series I was already reading. This is an Eastern Asia retelling of the Evil Queen and I NEED to read is soon (another theme here haha).
Wonder Woman Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo
I got this one in a Celebrate Books box and this was another anticipated release. I love Leigh Bardugo’s stories and Wonder Woman is amazing, this was a recipe for epicness. I did start reading this one but before I really got into it Tower of Dawn was released and obviously I needed to read that first! Will pick this one back up soon.
Flame in the Mist – Renee Ahdieh
Another anticipated releases I got in a Fairyloot. This Mulan inspired story is written by RenΓ©e Ahdieh who wrote the amazing The Wrath and The Dawn duology. I love those books so much and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. However I haven’t seen that many good reviews for this one yet and am not that excited about it anymore. Will read it this year though, the sequel is coming out this year so I can keep on reading if I like it.
Roar – Cora Carmack
And another book I got in a Fairyloot and one that I was anticipating. I’ve never read any book by Cora Carmack but this synopsis sounds great. The magic system in this one is all about storms and who controls them. This is another one that has not so great reviews but I’m still interested in it.
Daughter of the Burning City – Amanda Foody
Andddd another Fairyloot book π I was medium interested in this book about a traveling carnaval and illusions that are getting murdered. However I’ve heard so many people rave about this one that I’m actually quite excited to read this one. I hope I like it so I can justify getting Amanda Foody’s 2018 release (that has an AMAZING synopsis).
Strange the Dreamer – Laini Taylor
I discovered Laini Taylor in 2017 and was happy to get this in a Fairyloot (oops). I ordered myself to read the last book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy before I can start this big boy. The reviews are pretty mixed but since I do really like the Daughter of Smoke and Bone books I have high hopes for this one!
Invictus – Ryan Graudin
Wolf by Wolf has been on my wishlist forever and I actually was planning on getting that before this one. But I saw a pretty good deal for it and the synopsis sounds just so so good. Timetravel, thievery, heists, history, I’m so so excited to read this one and hope to get to it super soon. It’s probably the highest on my TBR!
The Language of Thorns – Leigh Bardugo
And last but not least (AT ALL) is another Leigh Bardugo book I got in a Fairyloot. I already read a little bit in this one and will probably read it one story at a time but will be finished before the end of the year! This way I also got something to tie me over until we get King of Scars <3 as I said I love Leigh Bardugo’s stories and this are amazing as well.
So these are 10 of the books I wanted to get to in 2017 but will now have to be read in 2018 π Most of them are books I got in bookboxes…. I guess now you all now why that is one of my reading goals haha. I need to read some books I got in boxes, especially since they’re almost all books I really want to read! What are some books you planned on reading in 2017 but will have to get to in 2018?
So many great books on your list!
Strange the Dreamer and The Daughter of the Pirate king probably are my favourites of your list! I also still need to read Flame in the Mist.
Happy reading & great TTT π
Thank you! There are so many books on here I just know I’ll love <3 need to get on this list soon haha
Wonder Woman is so good, you need to read it. I also discovered Laini Taylor last year and fell in love with her writing. Like you said, the opinions on Strange The Dreamer are mixed, but I really hope I`ll enjoy it as well.
