Review| Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake – Mazey Eddings

As a big fan of romantic comedy and I heard great things about Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake. I was going to read A Brush with Love first, but seeing how I’m working on my Netgalley ratio I picked up this one first. So today I want to tell you about this book and what I thought!

A big thank you to the publisher for giving me an eARC to read and review.

Lizzie has made endless mistakes. Kitchen fires, pyramid schemes, bangs (of the hair and human variety), you name it, she’s done it… and made a mess of it too. One mistake she’s never made is letting anyone get closer to her than a single hook-up. But after losing yet another bakery job due to her uncontrolled ADHD, she breaks her cardinal rule and has a two-night-stand that changes everything.

Once burned, twice shy, Rake has given up on relationships. And feelings. And any form of intimacy for that matter. Yet something about charming, chaotic Lizzie has him lowering his guard. For two nights, that is. Then it’s back home to Australia and far away from the pesky feelings Lizzie pulls from him. But when Lizzie tells him she’s got an unexpected bun in the oven, he’ll do whatever it takes to be a part of his child’s life… except be emotionally vulnerable, obviously. He’s never going to make that mistake again.

Through a series of mishaps, totally “platonic” single bed sharing, and an underground erotic baking scheme, Lizzie and Rake learn that even the biggest mistakes can have the most beautiful consequences.

Review

“Your brain was built different and that’s beautiful, never a burden.”

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake is a book that sucked me in from the start and didn’t let me go. This book is a roller coaster of emotions, but so well written. I don’t have ADHD, but it was interesting to read about a character who deals with this daily. It’s not something I’ve seen in many stories and I love seeing different things highlighted in books.

Our main character Lizzie ends up pregnant after sleeping with Rake twice. She wasn’t expecting it and things were falling apart when she found out, but she took it heads on and wasn’t going to let anything stop her. We see how Lizzie deals with ADHD daily and sometimes no matter how hard she tries things just don’t go as planned. She is amazing though. Lizzie speaks with no filter, follows her heart, is very creative, and just wants to be loved. Having people doubt her most of her life didn’t help and I loved seeing her grow. Slowly she realized she is worth so much more than just her diagnosis.

That’s when we get to the pregnancy. I loved the fact that Lizzie called Rake right away and didn’t hide anything. Rake got on a plane from Australia right away, because he wanted to be involved. He gets in way over his head at times, but he tries and really cares that just made this so heartwarming. They try and be platonic, but we slowly see the feelings develop as the pregnancy develops. There were so many heartwarming and laugh out loud moments. Things even get a little spicy here and there!

There was also some family drama with Lizzie’s family and it was interesting to see it develop. Rake stood up for her and that was such a swoonworthy moment. Everyone needs someone in their corner and Lizzie definitely found her person. I finished reading this book about a week ago and I still think about it! If you’re looking for a fun and heartwarming romance, definitely pick up Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake.

After reading Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake I’ll definitely be picking up the other two books in this series. Have any books made you laugh out loud recently? If so, which one? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
