Bookhaul | September 2026

It’s October and that means we look back at the previous month. Today it’s time to tell you if we added any new books to our shelves in the month of September. Were we good or did our bookhaul get a bit out of hand? Keep on reading to find out!

Candyce

In September I added 18 books to my shelves. A few more than planned, but there were some amazing releases this month. I also visited the bookstore a couple of times and it’s hard to leave empty handed. Also, Fairyloot was late sending books in August, so I got my August books at the beginning of September.

The Witch in the Dead of the Night – Charlotte Buckley

The Witch in the Dead of the Night isn’t a book on my radar, but it sounds perfect for this time of year. A hidden witch is unmasked and is forced to become a living weapon for a vampiric king and his brother. I wonder what kind of romance we’ll get out of this romantasy.

Steelborn – Taylor J. LaRue

Steelborn was already on my radar and I loved this edition. I recently heard someone say on booktube that this book gives major Throne of Glass vibes and now I’m even more excited.

To Drown a Witch – Lindsey Olsson

Another book not on my radar, but I’ll never say no to books with witches. An enemies to lovers romantasy that is described for fans of Heartless Hunter. If that’s the case I should have a great time.

Be Still My Unbeating Heart – Josh Winning

This really feels like the year of the vampires. So many releases this year involve them in one way or another. Be Still My Unbeating Heart is murder mystery and also a grumpy/sunshine romance. Perfect for spooky season!

Bodies of Magic – Freya Marske

Bodies of Magic caught my attention when it was described as Grey’s Anatomy meets A Deadly Education. Our characters are studying to be some type of doctor or healer I think? There are also trials and some type of murder mystery? I’m intrigued.

Alive and Wells – Bailey Hannah

I can never say no to cowboy romances and Alive and Wells is the first book in the Wells Ranch series. A couple of friends of mine loved these books, so I had to pick this one up when visiting a new bookstore this month.

The Dark in Her Veins – M.K. Lobb

The Dark in Her Veins wasn’t on my radar until a friend of mine mentioned it. In this romantic fantasy sin is a fatal disease. That sounds interesting.

Taipei Story – R.F. Kuang

I’ve enjoyed quite a few books by R.F. Kuang and I love that she writes different genres. Taipei Story is a literary fiction focused on grief, language, and culture. These books are stunning.

The Emperor’s Enemy – Jasmine Mas

I will say that The Emperor’s Enemy caught my eye first because of its cover, haha. I’ve heard this an actual enemies to lovers romance with lots of banter. Book one of a duology, so it won’t be easy to complete this one.

Adversary to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer

I loved Accomplice to the Villain and I read it right before this book released. I did expect Adversary to the Villain to be the final book, but we’re getting a fifth book next year. I have so many questions after book 3, so I’m excited to read this one.

Devour Me – Emily Rath

So I actually have Devour Me as an eARC, but this book was so stunning and went on sale. Now I really hope I love it, but I have a feeling I will. Devour Me is a perfect read for this time of year and I’m very excited.

The Winners – Fredrik Backman

The Winners is the final book in the Beartown trilogy and I’m nervous about reading it. Fredrik Backman knows how to hit us in all our feels. I really do want to know how everything ends in this fictional town.

Something About September – Julia McKay

How can I not buy a book with September in the title in the month of September? Also, this cover is stunning! A fall inspired second chance romance? Yes, please!

The Gilded Ones – Namina Forna

The Gilded Ones is the start of a YA fantasy trilogy we’re reading in my series slayers group. I read this one already and had a great time. The ending is open, but not a cliffhanger, so I really don’t know where this series will go.

Pink Ink – Avina St. Graves

Pink Ink sounds like a great time. Our main character is horror-obsessed film student who has been tracking a serial killer who just happens to be her brooding professor. I’ve read the dedication to Pink Ink and it has me even more excited to pick this up.

Tattered Tides – Sarah A. Bailey

Friends of mine love this author and add a stunning cover and I was excited. I do believe this is a second generation series, so I need to get caught up.

A Sign of Affection Vol. 12 – Suu Morishita

My favorite manga series finally had a new manga series and I didn’t even know about it! I devoured this in half an hour and I’m anxiously awaiting the release of the next volume.

The Moon on a Rainy Night Vol. 5 – Kuzushiro

I’ve been enjoying this series and decided to order the next volume. This story is really starting to go places and it even has more volumes than I thought. I need to add the rest to my wishlist.

Isabelle

I actually added 5 physical books to my shelves this month! Can you believe that? I already wrote a post about the bookbox with 3 gorgeous books I got, but I also bought 2 books when I was in Paris. Let’s take a look!

Tempest – Victoria Aveyard

I really wanted to get this book and was happy to see it in my favorite bookstore in Paris. It’s cool to know that’s the place I got this book (they also stamp it for you if you want that!) and I hope to read it very soon. This is a pirate fantasy and I eat those books up!

This Story Might Save Your Life – Tiffany Crum

I love that this book is about a podcast! It’s a mystery and since I love true crime podcasts I hope this book will be as good as I expect it to be. I will admit my expectations are pretty high because I really hope to love it.

All for the Game 1-3 (Rainbow Crate Special Editions) – Nora Sakavic

I love this series so much and have already read it 3 times this year haha. And while I owned the ebooks and audiobooks, I didn’t have physical copies. Until I saw this gorgeous special edition! It was pretty expensive and I usually don’t spend that kind of money on books (anymore haha), it was so worth it for this series!

So this is our September bookhaul! Have you read any of these? Or what did you add to your shelves? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
