Bookish Item | Goodreads Most Popular Romantasy of 2026

As you might know, I love looking at Goodreads lists and today I had a look at the most popular romance and romantasy books of 2026. While I am slowly turning into a romance girly, I didn’t expect to have read any from that category. But I did expect to have read some from the romantasy category. Turns out, I haven’t read any of those either! So I figured it would be fun to take a look at the romantasy books I would like to read from this list. Let’s jump in!

The Ballad of Falling Dragons – Sarah A. Parker

I enjoyed the first book in this series; When the Moon Hatched and I obviously want to read the sequel. This sequel is another big book with 540 pages and I will say the first book was one that took me a while to finish. So that might be why I haven’t picked this one up just yet.

Starside – Alex Aster

I got the ebook for this one when it was on sale for 1 dollar or something like that, seemed like a great deal to me! This will be my first Alex Aster book and I have seen mixed things haha. I do think I might really enjoy this one, but it is a pretty big one so it probably will take me a while.

Half City – Kate Golden

I really like this style of cover and I’m happy we’re getting more of them! A dark academia story with demon hunters and a possible love story between a demon hunter and a demon. This one sounds like a lot of fun and exactly the book I enjoy.

Graceless Heart – Isabel Ibañez

I have an eARC for this one and I’m still very excited to read this one. The setting is Renaissance Italy and it has a magical competition, something I always enjoy. It looks like the reviews are all over the place for this one, that always makes me curious as to where I will fall on that spectrum.

We Who Have No Gods – Liza Anderson

I think I added this one based on the title as I think it’s really catchy. This is another dark academia and it is set in a world full of witches. The main character is human but finds out her mother was a witch and her brother inherited those abilities. Now they both will attend a magical academy and I’m really curious!

These are some of the most popular 2026 romantasy books I would love to read. Have you read any of these? Did you enjoy them? Which one should I pick up first? Let me know down below!
