We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Books That Live in My Head Rent-Free, but it isn’t a topic I was really feeling. So I decided to give next week’s topic a go: Books I HAD to have immediately but still haven’t read. Let’s take a look!
Just for the Cameras – Meghan Quinn
Meghan Quinn is one of my favorite authors, so of course I have to have her new books immediately! That being said, part of me always kind of wants to savor them as well, haha. Which makes no sense, because I have some of her backlist I still need to catch up on. The sequel in this series releases next week, so I should just sit down and read Just for the Cameras.
Broken Dove – Dani Francis
After the ending of Silver Elite I would’ve loved to have had Broken Dove in my hands. I was also anxiously counting down the days until this released. This year I’ve been really bad at reading sequels and catching up with series. I need to fix that before the end of the year.
A Court of Silver Flames – Sarah J Maas
Even though Throne of Glass is my favorite Sarah J Maas series, I’ve had a great time with ACOTAR. A Court of Silver Flames is a book I’ve actually started twice, but seeing how we had no clue when the next book released I think I kind of became hesitant. Now that we know the next book will be arriving in October, I can finally finish this.
Kiss of the Basilisk – Lindsay Straube
I feel like I saw Kiss of the Basilisk everywhere around its release. This seems like a book I could love, but I know it’s more spice than plot. That’s something I can enjoy if it’s done well and I’m kind of scared. The third book (prequel story) releases in a few months, so I want to know if I need to order it. The only way to do that is to finally read the book.
The Ending Writes Itself – Evelyn Clarke
VE Schwab is one of my favorite fantasy authors and I thought it was really cool she teamed up with another author to write a mystery. The Ending Writes Itself sounds like a great book for a rainy day. I guess we just really haven’t had that kind of weather since I got my hands on this book, haha.
Our Perfect Storm – Carley Fortune
Carley Fortune’s books are great summer reads, so of course I ordered Our Perfect Storm. I honestly really have no reason I haven’t read it yet. Except that I still have one of her backlist books to read? Not that they have to be read in order.
NoFear – Tate James
Tate James is the queen of cliffhangers, so while I always want to jump on with her new series, I’m always hesitant. This time around I don’t think I want to wait until the whole series is complete. The next book does release in August.
Frozen By Stardust – Elizabeth Helen
Last summer I flew through the first four books of the Beasts of the Briar series. They’re not tiny at all, haha. I will say it wasn’t fun to not already have Frozen by Stardust in my hands. This is a book I’ll definitely be reading this year, but I’m also kind of waiting for book 6 & 7 that we’ll be getting in the next few months.
American Fantasy – Emma Straub
A crusie with my favorite boyband? That sounds like a great time. American Fantasy has this dream coming true for our main character. I have to say this sounds like the perfect summer read, so maybe I’ll finally sit down with it soon.
The Wings That Bind – Briar Boleyn
The first two books in this series were very pleasant surprises. I knew I’d enjoy them, but I don’t think I was expecting to love them as much as I do. The Wings That Bind is the third book and I have a feeling it’s going to go in a different direction and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. This one has also been getting some mixed reviews.
So most of these books are 2026 releases, but there are a couple older books. I truly wanted to read every single one of these right away. Part of me always tends to want to save them for a special occasion or I end up hesitant because of hype. At the moment, I still do want to read all of these soon. Have you read any of these?
