Once again it’s the start of a new month! It doesn’t feel like we should be saying that already, but it is true. That means it’s time for our May bookhaul! Did we add any books to our shelves? Keep on reading to find out!
Candyce
In May I added 22 books to my shelves. We have two months of subscription books (Fairyloot & Illumicrate) and some pre-orders. I also treated myself a bit this month! Stress isn’t good for buying books, haha.

Starside – Alex Aster
I still haven’t read Alex Aster’s popular YA series, but Starside sounds like a great story. The world of Starside sounds interesting. Swords wield magic and magic is claimed? A friend of mine read and loved this book, so I have a feeling I’m going to love it just as much.

Death’s Daughter – S.A. Barnes
This edition of Death’s Daughter is stunning. I’m still very happy with my Fairyloot subscription and I had a great time with this story. Our main character really is Death’s daughter and it’s not exactly something she’s happy with. I appreciated that even though we’re left with some questions, the ending didn’t feel too open. The wait for a sequel is less annoying that way, haha.

The Gravewood – Kelly Andrew
Vampires are making a return in books at the moment and I’m here for it! I’m intrigued that it’s mentioned that she has to ration her hearing aid batteries, but can get them if she gives the vampire who rules Gravewood. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out. The Gravewood does sound like a great rainy day read.

Verity Guild – Mai Corland
I recently saw a review of Verity Guild that described it as a Clue murder mystery with Ancient Rome vibes. Fantasy mysteries aren’t something I’ve read a lot of, but I’ve enjoyed a book by Mai Corland before. I have a feeling I’ll love this one as well.

Storm Breaker – Nisha J. Tuli
Storm Breaker had my attention when I found out it was a dystopian romance and that it takes place at an academy. I’m really curious about that magic system in this one.

Deathbringer – Sonia Tagliareni
Deathbringer is the first book in a new romantasy series that is dark academia, necromancy, forbidden love, and a twisty murder mystery that makes place in a magical institute. I really don’t need to know anything else but that.

Happy Ending – Chloe Liese
I’m so glad that Afterlight decided to do an edition of Happy Ending. Since the Bergman Brothers series, I know Chloe Liese is an author I need to keep reading. I was able to read an eARC of Happy Ending and it was a five star read for me.

Blood Bound – Ellis Hunter
Blood Bound is a book I’ve been curious about. The sentence “you duel or you die” is something that jumped out to me. I have a feeling this one is going to be something that keeps me on the edge of my seat.

The Moon on a Rainy Night Vol. 3 – Kuzushiro
It took me three times to get a copy of The Moon on a Rainy Night that wasn’t damaged. I’m really enjoying this manga series.

Cherry Baby – Rainbow Rowell
Fangirl is still a favorite book of mine and the synopsis of Cherry Baby caught my eye. It’s been a while since I read something by Rainbow Rowell and it’s time to change that. I’ve been reading more literary fiction and it seems this is another good one to add to my list.

The Ending Writes Itself – Evelyn Clarke
V.E. Schwab is a favorite author of mine, so I was intrigued when she announced she wrote a mystery with another author. The fact that our main characters our authors has me even more curious.

Us Dark Few – Alexis Patton
I’m in my dystopian romance era and Us Dark Few is one that came up on my radar. I actually don’t know much more about this one than that, haha. It’ll probably be a wild ride. The sequel releases in June.

Rules for the Summer – Meghan Summer
Meghan Quinn writes book that are laugh out loud funny and swoon-worthy. I see myself curling up with Rules for the Summer on a hot day when I’m trying to forget the heat.

Our Perfect Storm – Carley Fortune
Our Perfect Storm is Carley Fortune’s newest release and she writes great summer reads. I tend to go into her books blind and I think I’ll do that again with this book.

Broken Dove – Dani Francis
Silver Elite was a wild ride and after that ending I’ve been counting down the days to the release of Broken Dove. My reading has still been a bit all over the place, so I haven’t read this yet. It’s high on my list for June.

Yesteryear – Caro Claire Burke
Yesteryear is a book that I’m very curious about. It’s been everywhere since before it released. I’m not completely sure this is going to be the book for me, but I’m so intrigued. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when our main character seems to wake up in a different time.

Startup Hell – Caitlin Rozakis
The title and cover were the reason I bought Startup Hell. I mean, how can you resist this one? At the moment I’m buddy reading this one with my friend. It’s laugh out loud funny and I’m having a great time reading it.

The Night Bus – Tessa Bickers
The Night Bus caught my eye because a book is part of the story. Our main character is a journalist and sees a man every night with the same tattered book on the bus. This experience is going to lead somewhere and I can’t wait to find out where this story will take me.

Unbound – Peyton Corinne
I will say I’m normally not a fan of cover changes mid-series, but The Undone is definitely an exception. The cover change for this series is absolutely stunning and I’m glad I have only read the first book digitally. I’ll be collecting these new covers. Unbound is the third book and I know a few of my friends absolutely loved this story. I have a feeling I will as well.

Reel – Kennedy Ryan
So far I’ve read a few Kennedy Ryan books and I’ve loved them all except one. I’d say that’s a pretty good record. Score is one I keep hearing about and with the release of Reel in May, I’d say it’s time for me to sit down with these books myself. All I know is that this takes place in Hollywood!

Our Rogue Fates – Sarah Glenn Marsh
I’ve enjoyed previous YA books by Sarah Glenn Marsh and I believe that Our Rogue Fates is her adult debut. The cover alone has me wanting to read this and I’ve seen some character art that only increase this feeling.

Fever Dream – Elsie Silver
After loving the Chestnut Springs series, I’ll read anything that Elsie writes. I’m still catching up with her very first series, but that shouldn’t take me too long. I can never say no to cowboy romances.
Isabelle
After getting 2 ebooks in April, I also got 4 ebooks in May. And you might already guess which ones those are haha. I still have my Audible credits from the past 2 months, so no news on that front just yet. Let’s take a look at those audiobooks!

Game Changer, Tough Guy, Common Goal & Role Model – Rachel Reid
After my bookhaul last month, you could probably guess that this was coming haha. I am still very much obsessed with Heated Rivalry and after reading Heated Rivalry and The Long Game I wanted to read the rest of the books as well. By now I have read all of them and reread Heated Rivalry and The Long Game twice haha. I already posted about which books I liked the best, but all of them were fun for sure!
So that’s our May bookhaul! Have you read any of these? Or what book did you add to your shelves last month that you’re most excited about? Let us know in the comments. We’d love to hear from you!
