Another new month means checking to see if we read what we buy. In today’s Looking Back at Our Bookhauls post we’ll be seeing what we read from our April 2025 bookhaul. Let’s take a look!
Candyce
In April 2025, I added 13 books to my shelves. The last few months I’ve actually been checking my hauls before the month is over to see if I can read any I haven’t read yet. Life got in the way this time around, so I actually don’t know how well I did!

The Conditions of Will – Jessa Hastings
Unread
The Conditions of Will takes place in the same universe as Magnolia Parks, so I don’t want to read this until I’m caught up with that series. As we speak, I only have one book to go in that series. So I should be able to read this one soon.

Where Shadows Meet – Patrice Caldwell
Unread
As I said in the bookhaul post, Where the Shadows Meet was an Illumicrate book that was sent later. At the moment, I’m actually in a vampire mood. So I’m hoping to pick this one up in the near future.

Fan Service – Rosie Danan
Read
I actually read an eARC of Fan Service before I received my Afterlight copy. After loving this book, I was very happy this was going to be in my subscription. This is a book I need to reread!

Enchantra – Kaylie Smith
Read
Phantasma and Enchantra were both a great time! I’m really glad that I added this book to my shelves. Since reading Enchantra, I’ve been anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.

Murder by Cheescake – Rachel Ekstrom Courage
Unread
Murder by Cheesecake is one I actually forgot about until recently. I saw that this series is getting a sequel and that reminded me I need to curl up with this one soon.

Vera Wong’s Guide to Snooping (On a Dead Man) Jesse Q. Sutanto
Unread
The first book in this series was so much fun and I’m excited to see where Vera Wong’s next mystery takes her. I love that books like these are very out there. It makes them so much fun!

Fearless – Lauren Roberts
Unread
I made sure to get this one when the hardcover was very cheap. That being said, I’m not loving the series. I read Reckless at the beginning of the year. I do want to read this to just see how it all plays out, but I don’t think this one will be staying on my shelves.

Normal People – Sally Rooney
Read
Sally Rooney is a well loved and popular author that I was very curious about. Normal People was one I saw often and decided to give it a try. I had a great time reading it, but it didn’t blow me away. Also, I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to an author not using quotation marks in dialogue. I recently got another book by Sally Rooney because this one did interest me enough to see what else she’s written.

Blue Sisters – Coco Mellors
Read
This last year, I’ve really started enjoying literary fiction more. Family stories and family dramas are starting to interest me more and more. Blue Sisters is a heartbreaking story but it has its beautiful moments as well. I want to read more by this author.

Wild and Wrangled – Lyla Sage
Read
Camille and Dusty’s romance was so intense, but so good! I loved that we got to see them in the past and in present day. Just talking about Wild and Wrangled makes me want to read this series all over again.

Story of My Life – Lucy Score
Unread
Out of all of these books, I’m most surprised about not reading Story of My Life. The sequel just released and I’m hoping to read them back to back.

Great Big Beautiful Life – Emily Henry
Unread
Emily Henry is one of my favorite authors and I think I’ve been kind of savoring this one? I’m caught up with Emily’s books besides this one. Maybe it’s also because Great Big Beautiful Life has received some mixed reviews. It’s on my 26 books for 2026 list.

The Wind Weaver – Julie Johnson
Unread
I have to say that this Fairyloot edition is so stunning, but again, one I haven’t read. Oops! I’m not doing great this month, haha. The sequel just released, so it’s a good motivation to have me pick up The Wind Weaver soon. Big books don’t intimidate me as much anymore, haha.

I finally have something to look back on! April 2025 I got 5 physical books and 3 audiobooks, that’s quite a lot compared to the bookhauls in the months before. Now the big question is, did I actually read those books? Let’s take a look!

Kuroko’s Basketball Omnibus vol. 1 & 2 – Tadatoshi Fujimaki
read
After finishing Haikyu I was looking for another sports manga that hit the same, I have to say that I haven’t found that just yet unfortunately. However, Kuroko’s Basketball was enjoyable and looking back on it now makes me want to pick up the next volume.

SpyxFamily vol. 3 – 5 – Tatsuya Endo
read
I really enjoy this manga series! At the moment I have 2 more unread volumes on my TBR and I should really read those soon. This is an interesting story and the characters are so fun and lovable.
Audible

Jade War – Fonda Lee
read
I liked Jade City a lot and was excited to continue the series with Jade War. These books were not what I was expecting at all and I’m excited to finish the series with Jade Legacy. I do have to be in the right mood though, because a lot happens and I would not be able to follow my audiobook if I wasn’t concentrating haha.

Hell Bent – Leigh Bardugo
read
After reading Ninth House, I was excited to jump into Hell Bent. It’s been awhile since I read this one and I’ll admit I don’t remember exactly what happened haha. I might want to reread this one before the release of book 3 – Dead Beat – in September!

Harrow the Ninth – Tamsyn Muir
unread
After the shocking ending of Gideon the Ninth I had to have the sequel. Unfortunately I haven’t read this one yet! But I am for sure still interested in it. I enjoyed Gideon the Ninth more than I thought I would and I hope I’ll like this one just as much.
