TTT #423 | Authors You Wish Were Still Writing Today

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Authors You Wish Were Still Writing Today. You could go with authors that have passed away or have retired, but also authors that have switched to a genre you don’t really read. My list is a bit of mix of everything I think, so let’s get into it!

1. Jenny Han

Her last book came out in 2017! I love that she is getting all the movies and tv shows, but I would love to get another book. Jenny Han wrote some of my favorite YA contemporaries and I miss that feeling!

2. George R.R. Martin

He might still be writing, but all I want is the next Game of Thrones book… I don’t think we’ll get it before he dies, which is such a shame. Those books were pretty cool and I would love to see where he was planning on taking the story.

3. Abigail Haas

My favorite YA thriller was written by Abigail Haas, who only wrote a couple of books unfortunately. I have been looking for something that hits the spot like Dangerous Girls, but nothing is quite the same. If only Abigail wrote us something new!

4. Gillian Flynn

I have read all of Gillian Flynn’s books and I have been hoping for more for over 10 years now. Her thrillers are amazing and I can’t believe she just stopped writing!

5. Helen Hoang

I really enjoyed the books in the The Kiss Quotient series, but it turns out those are the only books Helen Hoang wrote. It would be great if she came out with another book, I would for sure pick it up!

This was hard!! Most of the authors I love reading are still doing just fine. And some I don’t really care about anymore, so I guess they wouldn’t make it to my list anyways. Unfortunately (or maybe it’s a good thing?) I wasn’t able to find 10 authors I wish were still writing. Did I miss any obvious answers? Let me know down below!
