We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is April Showers and I went with the books that made you cry interpretation. I have been in a crying mood and sometimes you need a good book to get those tears to flow, so here comes a list!

1. Sunrise on the Reaping (series) – Suzanne Collins
I’m picking this book (I am afraid to reread this one because of all the tears), but I could’ve mentioned the whole series. Reading The Hunger Games for the first time actually made me sick to my stomach and I have cried a lot of tears over these books.

2. They Both Die at the End – Adam Silvera
You know how this book is going to end and still it broke me. Somehow you keep hoping this isn’t going to happen, even though it’s clear where it all is going. There is no stopping this train and you simply need to experience it. But do bring tissues for the ride, because you will cry.

3. Kingdom of Ash (series) – Sarah J. Maas
When I say I ugly cried, I mean it. I was sobbing, refusing to believe what I just read. Whenever I hear those words again, on a TikTok edit for example, I start crying right away. No matter how many times I have reread this series, this book will have me sobbing (and the rest of the series will get me to cry as well haha).

4. Code Name Verity – Elizabeth Wein
I used to read a lot of WW II books and this remains one of the ones I will remember forever. This one elicited so many tears from me and I have not been able to reread it. I loved that it was about best friends, but that also made me cry so hard.

5. A Deadly Education (series) – Naomi Novik
Whenever I reread this series I have to cry, the parts where El realises she does have friends now and hard it was for her to be so alone always kill me. I’m a sucker for a good female friendship and this series definitely delivers in that regard.

6. Fourth Wing (series) – Rebecca Yarros
Might not be an obvious choice, but that scene with her mom… I bawled my eyes out. Also Liam…. So far I have cried with every book in this series, so that will probably continue with the next ones as well…

7. The Burning God – R.F. Kuang
The Poppy War is so heavy, but I do love this series a lot. I was walking through New York listening to the end of The Burning God and I was trying so hard not to bawl my eyes out while browsing bookstores haha.

8. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab
This book got more silent tears than all out sobbing I think. Still, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue definitely made me emotional and I’m still hoping for a little sequel (even just a short story!).

9. To Be Taught, If Fortunate – Becky Chambers
This novella made me feel kinda of hopeless and got me sobbing haha. It is so so good, and maybe some readers will find the message uplifting of hopeful, but for me it was not any of that haha. Like I said, I was feeling pretty hopeless and that is one of the reasons why I have never reread this one.

10. Red, White & Royal Blue – Casey McQuiston
It’s been a while since I read this one, but I do remember shedding some tears. Mostly at the emails they were sending each other! So many emotions with this one. And talking about it makes me want to reread and rewatch the movie (before we’re getting the sequel!).
These are 10 books (or series) that made me cry (or probably sob). I would highly recommend all of them as I loved them so so much. But I do recommend bringing a care package, because you will be crying. Have you read any of these? Did you cry? I would love to hear from you!
