TTT #417| Fantasy Books I Need to Read Soon

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is genre freebie, so I decided after my list of romance to read soon a few weeks ago, I should tackle the fantasy books I want to read really soon. Let’s take a look!

The Hero of Ages – Brandon Sanderson

It’s taking me quite some time, but I have been enjoying the first Mistborn trilogy. In January I finished The Well of Ascension, so I don’t want to wait to long before starting The Hero of Ages. It’ll be another trilogy to check off my list and I’ll be able to continue with more of the Cosmere!

The Strength of the Few – James Islington

The Will of the Many ended up being one of my favorite books last year. The sequel released in November and I haven’t gotten around to reading it again. I’m really trying to get better at reading series closer together. It’s hard to imagine anything topping The Will of the Many, but I see The Strength of the Few getting close.

Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter – Heather Fawcett

Heather Fawcett’s Emily Wilde trilogy was so much fun to read (okay… I still need to read the third book), so Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter caught my eye right away. It takes place in the 1920s and has cats. Need I say more? As long as nothing happens to the cats, I’ll be happy, haha.

Chain of Gold – Cassandra Clare

I’ve been quite invested in the Shadowhunter world, but for some reason I haven’t read The Last Hours trilogy yet. Cassandra Clare just revealed the cover of the first book in the final trilogy, so it’s time for me to get caught up.

Thunderhead – Neal Shusterman

After my reread of Scythe in February, it’s time to continue the series while all the details are still fresh in my mind. There were also quite a lot of things that have me curious to continue. We read about the thunderhead in the first book and that left me with so many questions.

Red City – Marie Lu

I’ve only read YA books that Marie Lu wrote, so I’m excited to see what she did with her adult debut. Red City is set in an alternative Los Angeles. The magic system sounds quite interesting and I’ve heard good things about this book.

The Things Gods Break – Abigail Owen

There’s definitely a trend going on here… lots of sequels, haha. The Games Gods Play was a lot of fun and the ending definitely went in a direction I wasn’t expecting. I have a feeling The Things Gods Break will be a wild ride. Also, the third and final book will be releasing this year as well. An even more important reason to keep myself caught up.

Tusk Love – Thea Guanzon

My fiancé is a fan of Critical Role and Tusk Love is based off of something that is found in one of their campaigns. Tusk Love sounds like it’s going to be a fun read. I recently saw a review that says if you enjoyed the movie Tangled, you’ll love this book. That definitely made me even more curious about this story.

When the Moon Hatched – Sarah A. Parker

I’ll be honest the hype When the Moon Hatched had, has made me very hesitant to pick this up. When a book is so hyped I tend to not love it as much as I expect to? A few of my friends really loved it, so I do still want to give it a try.

The Jasad Heir – Sara Hashem

Another book I hear nothing but amazing things about is The Jasad Heir. I always find fantasy stories where magic becomes outlawed very interesting. The rebellion that takes place can get very intense. Our main character is a fugitive queen. That always makes a story exciting.

So here are ten fantasy books I hope to read really soon! Have you read any of these? Or are there any fantasy books that you’re excited about? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
