We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is Quotes From/About Books. I love a good book quote, but I do feel like I repeat the same ones over and over. Hopefully I can come up with 10 quotes I love that I haven’t used that much yet haha. Let’s jump in!
Code Name Verity – Elizabeth Wein
“It’s like being in love, discovering your best friend.”
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil – V.E. Schwab
“Death comes, and sometimes it is kind, and often it is cruel, and very rarely it is welcome. But it comes all the same.”
The Seven Year Slip – Ashley Poston
“I loved how a book, a story, a set of words in a sentence organized in the exact right order, made you miss places you’ve never visited, and people you’ve never met.”
Sunrise on the Reaping – Suzanne Collins
“They will not use my tears for their entertainment.”
Fourth Wing – Rebecca Yarros
“Hope is a fickle, dangerous thing. It steals your focus and aims it toward the possibilities instead of keeping it where it belongs—on the probabilities.”
A Master of Djinn – P. Djèlí Clark
“Why is everyone so slavish to texts written thousands of years ago?” he snapped. “Gods can change. Grow apart. Try new things.”
Darkdawn – Jay Kristoff
“Fear is never a choice. Never a choice. But letting it rule you is.”
House of Earth and Blood – Sarah J. Maas
“Then let the world know that my first act of freedom was to help my friends.”
My Sister, the Serial Killer – Oyinkan Braithwaite
“The most loving parents and relatives commit murder with smiles on their faces. They force us to destroy the person we really are: a subtle kind of murder.”
The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi – Shannon Chakraborty
“For this scribe has read a great many of these accounts and taken away another lesson: that to be a woman is to have your story misremembered. Discarded. Twisted.”
It was pretty hard to come up with 10 quotes I hadn’t used in a different list before, but I think I managed to do just that! These might not be my ‘favorite’ quotes, they are still really good ones that I love. And I really enjoyed the books they come from too ;). What do you think of these quotes? Which one is your favorite? And what is your all time favorite book quote? Let me know down below!
