It’s officially 2026, so it’s time to take a look at my 2025 reading. Like every year, I have some reading goals. So today it’s time for my wrap up. Let’s see how I did! I know there are some that definitely need some extra attention this year.
Read 100 Books
I set this goal every year. I know I can easily read 100 books, but I don’t want to feel like reading is a chore. At the end of 2025, I finished my reading with 313 read books. This is the third year I’ve managed to read 300 books.
Increase My Netgalley Ratio
My goal was to get to 60% at the end of 2025. That didn’t happen, haha. At the beginning of 2024, I was at 45% (170 approved/77 feedback sent). I ended 2025 at 42% (364 approved/154 feedback sent). So I ended the year worse than I started, but I did get approved for 194 books and wrote reviews for 77 books. I’m trying! Haha.
Read Big Books
Reading big books actually went pretty well in 2025. At the end of the year I read a total of 30 big books. I’m actually really proud of myself. In 2025, I also discovered that I ended up enjoying the big books I read. So I’m going to prioritize them again this year.
Work on Catching Up On/Finishing Series
I’m still really bad at binging series and I want to change that. But in 2025 I completed 19 series and I’m caught up with 22 series! This year I realized again how much I enjoy reading series back to back. I’m hoping to continue this in 2026.
Read Backlist Books
In 2025, I only read 56 backlist books. That being said, 126 books I read in 2025 were from my shelves. So even though I didn’t read more backlist books, I did read quite a bit of physical books I added to my shelves.
Actually Finish All of the Books I Start (or DNF)
So I did get better at actually finishing books I start, but there are still a few from last year I need to sit down and finish. I’m still a reader that gets distracted easily. In 2025, I also only DNF’d one book. For some reason, my brain just needs to know how a story ends. Even if I’m not enjoying the story at all.
Add Less Physical Books on my Shelves
I failed at this goal. While I did read quite a lot of my physical books, I added more than I would’ve liked, haha. I’m running out of bookshelf space and I really want to get to the hidden gems I know that are hiding on me. Also, my fiancé and I are getting married in September 2027. I need to start saving for that.
