Bookish Item| Goodreads Readers’ 88 Favorite Romantasy Books of the Past Three Years

With summer slowly coming to an end, we’ll be heading into cozy season. My favorite time of the year. Even though I’ll read any genre during every season, I do feel we’re heading into the perfect fantasy (romance) book season. What’s better than a rainy day, cup of tea, and a fantasy (romance) book?

Goodreads published a list of readers’ 88 favorite romantasy books of the past three years. Out of these 88, I’ve already read 25 of these books. I want to read more of these, so let’s talk about the five I’m hoping to read soon.

Onyx Storm – Rebecca Yarros

If you’re in the bookish community, you’ve seen this book everywhere. I loved the first two books in The Empyrean series and I’ve been putting off reading Onyx Storm. Even though I’m excited to continue, I prefer to read a book after the hype isn’t so present. I have three weeks off in September, so it’s now time to read this book.

The Ashes & the Star-Cursed King – Carissa Broadbent

I’m terrible at reading series, so The Ashes & the Star-Cursed King has been starting at me to finally read it. The fourth book in the series releases soon and it’s been over two and a half years since I read the first book. If I don’t pick up this one soon, I’m going to have to start all over with this series, haha.

Trial of the Sun Queen – Nisha J. Tuli

Nisha J. Tuli just released her first contemporary romance, Not Safe for Work, and I loved it! So I think it’s time for me to try the first book of her romantasy series. Trial of the Sun Queen has a deadly contest. Need I say more?

Anathema – Keri Lake

Nocticadia by this author was such an amazing book, I need to read more of her backlist. Anathema was originally traditionally published, but Bloom Books is re-releasing this at the end of September. A terrifying world with cursed souls and grotesque creatures? Yes, please!

The Cursed – Harper L. Woods

I actually thought that the Coven of Bones series was only going to be a duology, but I just recently saw that a third book is releasing this year. The twist at the end of book one left me wanting more, so why I haven’t read The Cursed yet? No, clue. This witchy book is perfect for spooky season coming up.

So here are five of the romantasy books on Goodreads readers’ favorites list that I haven’t read yet. Have you read any of these? Where should I start? Or are you planning on reading any of these soon? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
