Bookish Item | 2025 Reading Goals Update

At the start of 2025 I shared my reading goals for the year. Every single year I forget about half of my goals haha. So this mid year check in is mostly to remind myself of my goals. Hopefully it’s also fun for you all! So let’s take a look at my goals and how I’m doing so far.

Goodreads Challenge
52 books

This was a very doable goal and I’m happy to report I’ve already read 40 books this year. So I’m very sure I will be able to reach this goal. Even if I slow down to 2 books a month I still will end up with 52 books!

Netgalley Feedback Ratio
50%

Now this one isn’t going that well unfortunately. My ratio is still at 39%. I also wanted to read 12 eARC’s this year, I’m currently finishing my 3rd one. So not great either haha. I knew this one would be a challenging one and I’m pretty sure I won’t be reaching this goal. But who knows, I might just surprise us all ;).

Backlist Books
12 books

This year I wanted to read actual backlist books and not just my physical books. So far I’ve read 4…. It’s still doable, but this is another challenging one. I have read 6 books I got new this year, so in that regard I’m right on track. Hopefully I can help myself with some audiobooks for this one.

Big Books
12 big books

I’ve read 15 big books, 12 of those were rereads and 3 were first time reads. So I’m pretty much right on track. I wanted to read at least 6 new big books and I’m halfway through that. Overall I’ve already reached this goal, so now I just need to focus on at least 3 more big books that are first time read to me.

Finish Series
6 series

This is another goal I always struggle with. I currently have finished 1 series…. There are 4 more series I’m up to date on. But I’m still pretty far out of reach of the finish line for this one.  I really need to go ahead and finish a couple of those series I already started. That might be my focus for this summer.

How are you doing with your reading goals? Are there goals you struggle with every year, but you keep trying anyway? I would love to hear from you down below!
