TTT #385| Books You’d be a Fool Not to Read

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since January 2018 Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is books you’d be a fool not to read. Here are some books I loved and think everyone should give a chance!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue – V.E. Schwab

A story about a girl who can never be remembered after making a deal with the devil was such an interesting concept. The writing is beautiful and this book has so many beautiful quotes. I really need to reread this one and annotate my copy.

Beartown – Fredrik Backman

Beartown is a small town nestled deep in the forest and has an interesting set of characters. A lot happens in this book that isn’t easy to read. Hockey plays a big part of this town to keep money coming, but it also causes quite a few problems. This book is told through quite a different POVs and once it comes together it hits you in all the feels.

The Exact Opposite of Okay – Laura Steven

The Exact Opposite of Okay is about Izzy who is open about her sex life and what she likes. A picture ends up in the newspaper of her with a guy and no one can stop talking about. People look at her differently, and not the guy she did this with. This book talks about the double standards that we see when it comes to sex and how males and females are looked at. While this book has its funny side, I really appreciated how Laura Steven told this story.

Metal Slinger – Rachel Schneider

Metal Slinger was a book I started seeing everywhere on Instagram and TikTok. People were telling everyone how amazing it was. I’m normally pretty hesitant when a book gets a lot of hype, but this one really deserves it. The characters and magic are interesting, and I never saw that ending coming!

Bergman Brothers – Chloe Liese

Okay, so this isn’t just a single book, but a whole seven book series. If you’re a big fan of romance, found family, and books that just hit you in all the feels, I highly recommend the Bergman Brothers series. All of these romances are so special and the Bergman family is one I’d want to be a part of.

Fragile Sanctuary – Catherine Cowles

Catherine Cowles is a newer to me author, but after reading Fragile Sanctuary I knew I needed to read her whole backlist. Fragile Sanctuary is another book with found family, and a family that I think a lot of us would love to be part of. This also has the perfect balance of romance and suspense.

They Both Die at the End – Adam Silvera

So the title may say it all, and this book takes place in less than 24 hours, but I became so invested in these two characters. I even cried at the end, haha. The world is interesting and it’s one I still think about over 7 years later. I’m excited that we’re getting a third book in this world soon.

The House in the Cerulean Sea – TJ Klune

Reading The House in the Cerulean Sea felt like a big, warm hug. I couldn’t not add it to this list. Linus lives a quiet, solitary life, and just does his job every day. When he gets sent to a magical orphanage, he never expects to find what he does: family and love.

Finlay Donovan Is Killing It – Elle Cosimano

If you’re in need of a fun and even a bit of a ridiculous story, I have to suggest Finlay Donovan Is Killing It. Finlay is a struggling author who is dealing with the aftermath of her divorce. When she’s pitching a book, someone overhears and think she’s a contract killer. This leads to a lot of weird situations and her own little investigation. I laughed so much reading this one.

So here are some of my all time favorites! Do we have any in common? Or what books do you think everyone needs to read? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you.

  1. I haven’t read any of the books on this list, but I’ve heard of several. My own list would run into the hundreds, so I’m impressed you were able to limit this one. Thanks for the list and happy reading!
