Valentines Day is just around the corner and Goodreads just released a list of the top 100 romance novels of the past 3 years. I thought it would be fun to take a look at them and share which ones I have read and which ones I still want to read. While I’m not the biggest romance reader, I do have read a couple of them. So let’s take a look!
Read
Fourth Wing & Iron Flame – Rebecca Yarros
I have read both of these this summer, and again in January to get ready for Onyx Storm and I understand why they are on this list! They are so much fun and super addictive. I also bawled by eyes out reading both of these haha.
House of Sky and Breath & House of Flame and Shadow – Sarah J. Maas
Sarah J. Maas may not be perfect but I adore her books so so much. This is my second favorite series by her, after Throne of Glass. I really liked these books and I hope we get more of this world soon!
The Serpent and the Wings of Night & The Ashes and the Star Cursed King – Carissa Broadbent
I picked this first one up after it was promoted as for fans of Sarah J. Maas. Especially the first one was so good! I loved the competition part of it. Carissa Broadbent has written some more books and I can’t wait to pick those up.
When the Moon Hatched – Sarah A. Parker
I had heard amazing things about this one and I got myself a copy this summer. It is a really cool fantasy world with some unique elements. I don’t think this is the best book ever but I will for sure pick up the sequel when it releases.
Want to Read
Book Lovers & Funny Story – Emily Henry
I think these are the only pure romance novels on my list haha. Emily Henry seems like such a beloved author and I’m really curious to try some of her work. I like the titles of these and they both sound like interesting stories as well.
One Dark Window – Rachel Gillig
I kinda forgot what this one was about but I just saw it is on Kindle Unlimited so that makes it pretty easy to pick up soonish. It’s another romantasy so that makes it interesting to me for sure.
The Seven Year Slip – Ashley Poston
I got the audiobook for this one not too long ago. After seeing a ton of positive reviews I got quite curious. I have adored some of Ashley Poston’s previous work and I can’t wait to dive into this one.
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches – Sangu Mandanna
I have an ebook of this one and I have been planning on reading it ever since I got it. It sounds like a book I would highly enjoy and I have seen a ton of positive reviews for it. I hope to read it soonish!
Quicksilver – Callie Hart
I got a copy of this one through Kindle Unlimited. Admittedly, I wasn’t super interested in this one at first but a friend of mine enjoyed it and after seeing it all over I guess I just want to know what the hype is about haha. I have discovered some amazing reads because of hype so I’m curious to see where I’ll fall on this one.
The Songbird & the Heart of Stone – Carissa Broadbent
I mentioned the first 2 books in this world above and I’m curious about this new duet in the same world. This is about a beloved character and I can’t wait to dive into this one! I currently have 4 of Carissa’s books through Kindle Unlimited, so I probably should read one of them soon haha.
The Spellshop – Sarah Beth Durst
This is another one I have heard amazing things about. I love that this is about a librarian who starts making jam and opens a secret spell shop. Also, this has a sentient spider plant and I’m so curious!
Apprentice to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer
I loved Assistant to the Villain and laughed so much while reading it! This is the sequel and I already own a copy. It sits on my nightstand, waiting for me to pick it up. I have to say, this feels like a spring/summer book to me so I might wait a bit longer but I do plan on reading it this year!
Result
Read: 7/100 – 7%
Want to Read: 9/100 – 9%
I think we can see a bit of a theme in the books I have read and still want to read haha. It’s mostly romantasy and I have to say I’m not surprised at all. I might go back to the list and take a look at some of the other books and see if I might want to try some of them. Could be interesting to see if I would enjoy any of them for Valentine’s Day!
