Bookish Item| 2024 Favorite Romance Reads

So we’re about halfway through the first month of 2025, and I want to start sharing some of my 2024 favorites. I read 351 books in 2024, and 126 of them were five stars. So I had a lot of favorites, haha. Romance was my most read genre, so I’m starting off here. I won’t be sharing all of my 2024 favorites, but here are some that I think everyone needs to read. Let’s take a look!

Just for the Summer – Abby Jimenez

After reading Part of Your World and Yours Truly, I definitely understood why people love Abby Jimenez so much. Just for the Summer had me me joining that club as well. This book had two people not looking for anything serious, but just be together for the summer. I can’t tell you how many emotions this book made me feel. I still think about it often.

Reckless – Elsie Silver

In 2024, I read Heartless, Powerless, and Reckless. I’d honestly recommend the whole Chestnut Springs series, but Reckless was my favorite out of those three I think. Winter was a character I was curious about after Flawless and I’m glad she got her own story. If someone needed to learn how to think she deserved love and how to love, it was her. Theo was also just the perfect book boyfriend. I’ll be rereading Reckless!

Lost and Lassoed – Lyla Sage

Apparently, 2024 was the year of cowboy romances for me, haha. Enemies to lovers and forced proximity? Yes, please! I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t get enough. The way Gus took care of Teddy, even when he still didn’t really like her, was very swoonworthy.

Salt Kiss -Sierra Simone

I wasn’t a big fan of Priest by this author, so I was a little hesitant about reading Salt Kiss. But this one impressed me in many ways. Do be warned that this one is very spicy! Tristan and Mark’s relationship is an interesting one, and I have a feeling it’s going to be even more interesting once Isolde enters the story even more.

Next to You – Hannah Bonam-Young

This friends to lovers romance was everything I wanted and didn’t know I needed. Matt and Lane are close friends and both realize there’s an attraction there. It’s pretty clear that Matt feels a bit more than Lane does. He’s ready to settle down, while she doesn’t think she’s the commitment type. So when things cross the line, they agree that friends with benefits is all they can be. We all know it doesn’t stay that way. I loved every second of this book!

Fragile Sanctuary – Catherine Cowles

Fragile Sanctuary was my introduction to Catherine Cowles and her romantic suspense books. This was such a pleasant surprise, and had the perfect balance of romance and suspense. Anson and Rhodes both have things to deal with, but it seems they were meant to find each other and heal. This book hit me in all the feels.

A Thousand Miles – Bridget Morrissey

After That Summer Feeling, I wanted to read more by this author, so I bought A Thousand Miles. Two former high school best friends end up on a road trip they promised they’d go on before they stopped talking. This road trip was an interesting one. Getting to know each other again, dealing with emotions from years ago, talking about that main, and even more. I have to say this was an emotional roller coaster, but so worth the read.

Magnolia Parks – Jessa Hastings

So this isn’t a sweet romance that has you smiling while reading. Magnolia Parks is about a very toxic relationship between Magnolia and BJ, who just can’t see to be without the other. That being said, I just couldn’t stop reading. I knew it was going to be dramatic, but I needed to know where it would go.

Wild Eyes – Elsie Silver

Wild Love is the first book in the Rose Hill series, but I started off with Wild Eyes. West and Skylar have the best romance. Skylar needs to get away from the spotlight after finding out her parents were controlling more of her life and career than she thought. Weston saves her from being eaten by a bear, haha. Their banter and time communicating was the best and I loved them interacting with West’s kids.

What If You & Me – Roni Loren

It seems that I loved a lot of emotional romances last year and What If You & Me was one of them. Both of our main characters are dealing with a different kind of trauma in their own way. Getting to know each other and being involved in each other’s lives helped them slowly heal and open themselves up to new things and feelings.

So those are ten romances I read in 2024 that I loved! Have you read any of these? Or did you have any favorites? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
