Last year both Candyce and I shared our 24 in 2024 lists, the 24 books we planned on reading in 2024. I thought it would be fun to do another one of those! I don’t really make TBR’s but I do for sure have books I would love to read in the coming year. Today I’ll share the first books on that list, so let’s jump in!
1. Legends & Lattes – Travis Baldree
I got this one in 2024 and have heard so many great things! This is for sure one of the books I plan on reading soon. A fun fantasy is just what I need this winter!
2. Finlay Donovan is Killing It – Elle Cosimano
I love a good mystery/thriller and this seems like a really fun one! It’s another one with great reviews and after reading the first chapter or so I know I will enjoy it!
3. Apprentice to the Villain – Hannah Nicole Maehrer
I loved Assistant to the Villain last year and I immediately had to get this sequel when it released. Knowing how much I laughed reading the first one, I can’t wait to dive into this one!
4. Jade City – Fonda Lee
I’m going to try again with this one! After saying I want to read this one soon for over a year now I hope this will finally be the year I actually do so. I just know I will love this one.
5. Blessed Monsters – Emily A. Duncan
One of my reading goals (like every year) is to finish some series. Since I only have one book left in this series it would be great if this could be one of the series I finish. I really enjoyed the first book and liked the second one so hopefully this series finishes strong!
6. The Bone Shard Daughter – Andrea Stewart
.Another one that has been on multiple TBRs. I feel pretty guilty towards this book haha. It’s one I’m sure I will enjoy so hopefully 2025 will be the year I do so.
7. Skyward – Brandon Sanderson
I want to read more scifi and I want to read more Brandon Sanderson, so this is the perfect book to tick both those boxes. It would be great if I can slowly make my way though my Brandon Sanderson books.
8. Level Grind – Annie Bellet
I got this one at Dutch Comic Con years ago, the author was there and she was so lovely. This book still sounds really fun, it has short stories so maybe I need to try and read one of those every week the coming months.
9. Bloodwitch – Susan Dennard
Another recurring offender haha. I adore this series so there is no excuses for this one to still be on my TBR. Writing this makes me want to pick it up right away, so maybe soon now?
10. Sleeping Giants – Sylvain Neuvel
Like I said, I want to read more scifi so this one qualifies. And my cousin’s fiancée read and loved this one this year so I would love to talk to her about it!
11. Red Sister – Mark Lawrence
It feels like it’s been awhile since I mentioned this one! But I still haven’t read it yet haha. I really like the sound of this one and hope I’ll enjoy it, the series is completed I believe so I can binge it in one go.
12. Assassin’s Apprentice – Robin Hobb
A kid in my class read this one and of course I need to do so now as well. It’s the perfect reason to finally pick up this classic!
These are 12 of the 25 books I plan on reading this year! Do you think I will manage to do so? Which one should I start with? Let me know down below!
Of these, the only one I have read is Assassin’s Apprentice. It’s on my “hope to reread” list this year.
Have you read any Mark Lawrence? I tried The Book that Wouldn’t Burn and it was a DNF. I got annoyed with his repetitiveness – often repeating just a few paragraphs later what he had already told us, then doing it again another couple of pages on. I also found what I read of it to be quite predictable. But a lot of people seem to love his books and writing style, so maybe it will work for you
