Every year we have the Goodreads Choice Awards and every year there is the same discussion about it being a popularity contest. So I have to say, I don’t really vote in it anymore, especially since I usually have only read 1 or 2 books in each category. But what I do like to do is find new books on the lists! I have added a couple of books to my TBR so let’s take a look at those!
We Solve Murders – Richard Osman
Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club is on my TBR, but it’s a series with 4 books and is still growing. So when I saw Richard Osman was also starting a new series I figured that might be the better route for me to take! I love a good mystery series and I have high hopes for this one.
How to End a Love Story – Yulin Kuang
Can you believe I added a romance book? Me?! But it had this first sentence in the synopsis; Two writers with a complicated history end up working on the same TV show, so I was sold right away haha. I also like the look and the coloring of the cover!
The Book of Doors – Gareth Brown
This book is about a book with special powers and I can’t really resist that to be honest. I’ve also seen some really positive reviews and I think it could be a great book. It’s a debut novel and I’m really curious about it!
The Warm Hands of Ghosts – Katherine Arden
I have loved the books by Katherine Arden I have read so far, and I have more I would love to read. With this title and this blurb; During the Great War, a combat nurse searches for her brother, believed dead in the trenches despite eerie signs that suggest otherwise, in this hauntingly beautiful historical novel with a speculative twist, I’m very much interested in reading this one!
The Ministry of Time – Kaliane Bradley
I love books about time travel. So I don’t need to know much more than the fact that this one is about time travel. But is also had this blurb; A time travel romance, a spy thriller, a workplace comedy, and an ingenious exploration of the nature of power and the potential for love to change it all. And that just sounds amazing. I’m pretty sure I will love this one.
Yours for the Taking – Gabrielle Korn
This is a dystopian sci-fi novel where people can’t live outside anymore because of the effects of climate change. I think this is always the most interesting type of a dystopian world, as it is one we’re getting dangerously close to.
So Let Them Burn – Kamilah Cole
I don’t read that much YA anymore, but I had to add this one. Admittedly, I first took a second look at this one because of the title and cover. But the synopsis also sounded really good and so I decided to add this one. Also, it has dragons soooo…
All In Her Head – Elizabeth Comen
The Truth and Lies Early Medicine Taught Us About Women’s Bodies and Why It Matters Today, how can I ignore this? I’m really interested in this, it’s so interesting (and insane) how little research has been done about women’s health and bodies and I can’t wait to read this one!
One in a Millenial – Kate Kennedy
The rest of the title is; On Friendship, Feelings, Fangirls, and Fitting In and I just knew I wanted to read it! One In a Millennial is an exploration of pop culture, nostalgia, the millennial zeitgeist, and the life lessons learned (for better and for worse) from coming of age as a member of a much-maligned generation, how can I not want to read that? Even though I’m not a big non-fiction reader, this is a book I would love to read.
The Third Gilmore Girl – Kelly Bishop
I’m a huge Gilmore Girls fan and I’m so excited to read this one! The reviews are very positive and I’m really curious. I don’t think I’ve read a memoir, except for one I read for my studies. So this would be a bit of a first for me!
These are 10 books I added to my want to read shelf on Goodreads after seeing them at the Choice Awards. I hope to add a couple of them to my physical shelves soon! Have you read any of these books? Do you think I will enjoy them? I would love to hear from you!
