As you might know I recently got a Kindle Unlimited subscription. And one of the first books I read through there was The Honeymoon by Shalini Boland. I thought it would be fun to share my review on the book with you all today.
It was the perfect romantic honeymoon. Until her husband disappeared.
It was supposed to be the happiest time of their lives. But for newlywed Stella, the dream honeymoon has turned into a nightmare overnight. Her perfect husband, Austin, has vanished without a trace.
Alone in Venice, Stella frantically searches for him. But as fear turns into confusion, she finds herself questioning everything she knows about the man she married. Has Austin really abandoned her, or has someone from his past finally caught up with him—the business partner he threatened to sue? The obsessive ex-girlfriend who refuses to let go? When Stella becomes convinced someone is following her, panic sets in.
As hours turn into days and clues start to unravel dark secrets, a terrified Stella can’t help but ask herself: is her husband who she thought he was at all?

This is an adult mystery/thriller and I used to read those a ton! It’s been awhile since I shared a review for one of those I think as I don’t read them as often anymore. There are a couple of authors I gravitate towards but it’s always fun to find new authors to try.
This book is about Stella’s honeymoon and when we start the book her husband Austin has vanished. He was going back to the restaurant where he forgot his credit card and doesn’t come back. We get a now timeline where Stella tries to find her husband in Venice where they are for their honeymoon and a then timeline leading up to the honeymoon. In the then timeline we see some people who might have a reason to harm Austin.
I enjoyed the story although it was pretty predictable. There weren’t any surprising twists and the book ended exactly how I hoped it would. That did make it enjoyable though! I was hoping for something and it can be so rewarding to be right.
There was a little something at the end that I did not see coming though! And that actually elevated my rating to 3,5 stars. There was one little twist that managed to surprise me and it was a really fun one. It changed my view on the book for sure! And while it can be rewarding to accurately predict what happened in a mystery book, it is even more fun when the author pulls of a surprising twist.
This was a quick and enjoyable read, I would definitely recommend it. Just know what you’re getting into and don’t expect a super surprising story. Would you pick this one up? Or have you read it already? What did you think of it? I would love to hear from you!
