5 On My TBR | Slow-Paced

As we’ve mentioned before, one of our most important reading goals of is shrinking our physical TBR’s. Sometimes it’s hard to think of what books we still have or what subjects to read about. So we needed a way to keep track of this. 5 On My TBR is a way of keeping track. This is a meme hosted by E from Local Bee Hunter’s Nook. Every week there’s a different prompt for five on my TBR.

This week’s topic is slow-paced. I find this one to be pretty difficult, as I don’t really know which books on my TBR are slow-paced and which ones aren’t. But I think I can make some guesses! Let’s see which books on my TBR I think are slow-paced.

1. The Fiery Cross – Diana Gabaldon

I would say the entire Outlander series counts as slow-paced! This is book 5 in the series, it’s the next one I have to read. I listened mostly to the audiobooks, those really helped me get through the series easier. So I might just stick to those for the whole series.

2. The Shadow of the Wind – Carlos Ruiz Zafón

I think this one is probably a pretty slow-paced story. After looking at a couple of reviews I think I’m right about this one. It does still sound like a book I want to read, or at least a book I want to have read.

3. The Fifth Season – N.K. Jemisin

While this one isn’t described as slow-paced by most, I do see a lot of people DNFing this one around 20% of the book. So I think that might have something to do with the pace of the book. I have seen amazing reviews for this one and I can’t wait to finally dive in.

4. Written in Red – Anne Bishop

I kinda forgot I had this book haha. This seems like a book that could be pretty slow-paced and while I didn’t see it mentioned in reviews it did seem like it at least wasn’t fast-paced. I did like what I read in the reviews and might move this one a bit higher up on my TBR.

5. The Priory of the Orange Tree – Samantha Shannon

I totally put this one on the list because it’s so big and a ton of readers DNF’ed this. Usually big books like this are more of a slower pace and that doesn’t always work for people. I’m for sure intimidated by this book, but I have heard great things from some friends of mine so I still have good hopes.

These are 5 books I think might be slow-paced. I would love to hear from you if you agree with me, especially when you have read these books. Are they actually slow-paced or did I assume wrong? Let me know in the comments down below!
