Review| All I Want Is You – Falon Ballard

It’s the end of November when this review comes online, and I’m in full holiday mode by now. All I Want Is You released in September, and I actually read this a month later. I love everything Christmas, so I needed this book in my life. Today I want to tell you all about it and what I thought. Keep on reading to find out more!

A big thank you to Netgalley and  G.P. Putnam’s Sons for providing me with an eARC to read and review. This doesn’t affect my opinion in any way.

Bitter exes. Professional rivals. Just one bed.
What could go wrong?

Jessica Carrington always wanted her own happily ever after. But, until that happens, she spends her days as a small-time romance writer, penning satisfying Happily Ever Afters to soothe the heartache left by her ex-boyfriend Nick Matthews, a fellow romance writer and now her biggest rival, who has found success writing love stories without happy endings. It’s clearly what he’s good at, after all . . .

So, when their professional obligations find them snowed in – and forced to share a room! – at the same remote inn a few days before Christmas, Jess and Nick are both fuming. But what’s more fitting for two romantic writers in a slump? And when they realise the friction between them might be the only cure for their writer’s block, they decide to turn their frustration into fiction . . . and the pages start flying.

Jess can’t shake the feeling that Nick is the last guy on earth she should be falling for (again), but, as they both finally get back in their flow, is he actually all she wants for Christmas?

Review

All I Want Is You has everything I love about a Christmas romance and I can’t help but smiling while thinking about it. This book is filled with holiday cheer. I mean how can it not be when our main character, Jessica loves Christmas as much as I seem to. Add in some great banter and tropes I love, and you have me hooked.

Jessica is a romance writer and needs these HEA moments after her relationship ended badly. To make matters worse her ex, Nick, is also a romance writer and his career has been more successful than hers has. They’re contracted by the same publishers, so when she’s asked to give a speech at a holiday ball when Nick receives an award, she really doesn’t want to. Jessica knows this could be good for her career, so she does. If only the evening didn’t end up with being snowed in and the booking of her room going wrong.

We get forced proximity, banter, some spicy scenes, and two characters who still clearly love each other. I loved that we get a few glimpses of different Christmases they spent together. It’s clear that their relationship ending was partially caused by miscommunication. I have a feeling if they had just sat down and talked they could’ve saved a lot of hurt. I loved them getting closer again and the tension between them just jumped off the page. I loved that both of them were authors and only seemed to be able to work on anything when they got worked up by the other. The grand gesture at the end of the book melted my heart, and I was so sad when I had read the final page.

If you’re looking for a great holiday romance that will make you laugh and hit you in all the feels, I highly suggest All I Want Is You. It’s the perfect book to curl up with by the Christmas tree and a warm beverage. I could keep talking about how much I loved this book!

I loved this book and I hope Falon Ballard gives us more holiday themed books, because I loved this one. Have you read any holiday themed books this season? What are some of your favorites? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you.
