Last weekend I started watching Nobody Wants This after seeing everyone talking about it. I had to check it out for myself, what was this hype all about? And is it as good as everyone seems to say? Let’s see what I thought of Nobody Wants This!
Follows the unexpected relationship between a rogue rabbi and an irascible, loud, agnostic woman.
The internet seems to to agree on a couple of things, this is a romcom like the olden days, and Adam Brody is FINE. That was pretty much all I needed to convince me to try this show. Add to it that Kristen Bell is one of the leads and I was all in. I adore Kristen Bell so much and want to watch anything she’s in since adding Veronica Mars to my all time favorite shows years and years ago.
Don’t get mad at me, but I was never an O.C. girlie, so I haven’t watched that much with Adam Brody in it either. But Gilmore Girls is one of my other all time favorites and if you know Gilmore Girls you know and love Dave Rygalski. So yes, I was already invested in these two leads from the get go.
The show is a really quick watch, I binged it in one go and really enjoyed it. Kristen Bell’s character has a podcast with her sister and as a lover of podcasts that detail already made me love this show more. The podcast is about their life, about love and sex and it pretty far removed from the live of Adam Brody’s character. He is a rabbi and is a well known person in his Jewish community. I loved seeing how the couple had to overcome everyone’s dislike of their relationship because of their different believes and lifestyles.
There is a lot of chemistry in the show and it was great to look at. Not just the main couple though, I really liked the sister’s friendship with Adam Brody’s brother for example. And overall this was also really funny. I laughed out loud a lot while watching. Yes, some storylines were a bit unbelievable or unrealistic but it is a tv show after all. And you could debate the choices made at the end of the show but I really enjoyed it for what it was. I for sure would recommend this show and I would love to watch more like this one!
